Communications... - RobMeade - 14-04-2008 11:33 PM Hi all, Firstly, great game, love the grapics, very pleasing... Now for my little moan... Whilst I have only so far played the game for a couple of days, so cant really evaluate it properly, I have noticed that my manual that came in the boxed retail version has a few spelling mistakes in it, not to mention some of the content is in German instead of English. On the subject of languages... When coming to the forum to gain support/information I found it extremely frustrating that it was all in German until I registered my account and selected English/US....I would like to point out that the registration was difficult too as all of the fields were labelled in German, the one that through me the most was the one that mentioned about recommended by another user....as I had no idea what this said I assumed it was the "What would you like to be known as on the forums" kinda field...thus every time I entered my own choice I was told (in German) that the user didn't exist... I tried for a good 5 minutes before I got to the stage where I was about to give us, then I used the translation tools on Google to work out some of the fields and was able to complete the registration. The confirmation email was also in German (although by this point I had already stated English/US etc).... Ironically, when I clicked the link to activate (guess work), I was presented with the next screen in English... The headings/titles on the forum for me are now in English which makes it more usuable, but I would suggest a few flag like links on the main page to change the language it appears in before you register would be advantageous so that people find it easier to register. This might account for your small user base on the forums so far... RE: Communications... - City Builder - 26-04-2008 02:51 AM Kalypso said they were working on translating the board to multiple languages, this was a few weeks or more ago I think. I would think they would have gotten this worked out by now and returned the default language to English and let the user decide to make it their native language only after registering, oh well... They must be too busy to get it finished making the forums multilinqual and set the swtich in the admin panel to set the default language to english which is about how much effort it takes in most forum software to choose which language to make the default language. I've been frustrated enough in the past with trying to figure out what a web page says in a foreign language that I immediately go to google to translate any sites that arn't in English or German any more to lessen the frustration level. RE: Communications... - RobMeade - 26-04-2008 12:06 PM Thanks for the update... I suppose as an English speaking individual its very easy for me to say "the world must all use English" etc, I hope it didn't come across like that in my initial post, my only real point was that it would have been handy to have been able to click a little flag or something at the beginning to make registration more easy... Anywho...have a good weekend
