transport system
Everyone got a hard time building roadsystems to support private transportation and teamsters moving goods.

If one could build a railroad connecting the industrial area with the docks it would take a load of the roadsystem as well as freeing up some data by having 40 less teamstertrucks driving around.

RE: transport system
Try out Swixel's Tyrannus mod. It allows you to choose who gets cars and who doesn't. It helps a lot... Also, and it's not always possible, the fewer traffic corners you have, the better, as without crossroads it's more difficult for gridlock to develop.

Having alternate routes helps take some of the pressure off, but for the most part teamsters will take the shortest path without regard to traffic. I usually have a 'beltway' system around the island with multiple 'exits' for different areas--it helps a bit but not as much as it should.

It probably wouldn't free up the data, except maybe by 'lumping' it, because you'd still be animating the stacks...
