DLC disappeared?
I have all 3 DLC and everything was working just fine up until yesterday. Then I got the modern times expansion and installed it fine but now the DLC maps and buildings do not show up anymore? When I load the game up it says something like checking for downloadable content but the buildings don't show up anymore. I re-entered the DLC codes into the launcher and it says code ok or something like that. But nothing shows up in game and it doesn't redownload when I launch.

So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the base game and then the expansion but still no DLC? (it deleted my profile and saved games too without any warning! Grrrr). Is there any way to get my DLC back?

Thank you.

The same thing happened to me! I had Constuctor, Junta, and Plantador.

When I upgraded, I lost Junta.

RE: DLC disappeared?
Ok, so I finally got my DLC back. Maybe this will help someone. I have no idea why it disappeared in the first place.

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled tropico4 from the cd. Then I immediately installed modern times from the cd. When the game launched it would say checking for downloadable content but never finds anything. The DLC maps and buildings don't show up. I tried this multiple times.

So I finally uninstalled again and reinstalled tropico4 from the cd. This time I just ran it without the expansion and the launcher automatically downladed a bunch of updates and then dowloaded the DLCs. Then I installed modern times and launched again and now everything is there.

For some reason I needed to install the DLC before the expansion. If I install the expansion first the launcher won't download the DLCs.

Hope that helps someone.
Now this is getting frustrating. Everything was just working fine. I shut it down and had something to eat and I come back now and all the DLC is gone again. What the hell.

RE: DLC disappeared?
Now I found the problem. It doesn't matter the order I install everything. That was just a coincidence.

So I found the folder where the DLC is stored. There are 4 files, 1 for each DLC and 1 file that has the serial codes. (plus 1 more file for the expansion). I can get everything to run fine, but as soon as I shut down the game the 3 files for the DLCs just disappear! But the 1 file with the serial codes stays put. So when I next run the game I guess it sees the serial codes and doesn't try to download the DLCs because it thinks the files are there? But the files have disappeared so the content isn't in the game.

I had to back up the DLC folder and copy the files back in every time before I run the game. The 3 files simply disappear every time I close the game.

This is frustrating to say the least. I can't imagine why the files would just delete themselves.

I have had exactly the same problem and have been emailing support for about a week... their suggestions did not work at all.....

After a lot of trial and error I found the exact same soluton as you and had just come to the forum to post the method - this is the only way it works for me too Smile

Anyway now that 2 people are reporting this bug hopefully it will get fixed Wink

Good Luck Smile

RE: DLC disappeared?
Thanks for the confirmation.

To add insult to injury, not only does the DLC delete itself when the game shuts down - if you forget to copy it back in you can't load any saved games because they are incompatible without the DLC.

I hope a solution can be found.

RE: DLC disappeared?
I spoke too soon - now Modern Times has partially disappeared and I cannot play any saved games or 'continue' from where I left it...

The launcher is still the Modern Times launcher but once in the game there is no mention of Modern Times anywhere Sad

I do not know why I could get it working with all of the DLCs and now the only way is by uninstalling, reinstalling and pasting in the DLcs - as soon as I quit the game Modern Times partially disappears....

ETA:
I have got it working again - I have no idea why but it might be because the expansion.hpk file had disappeared from my back-up copy of the DLC file.... but I really do not have a clue....

RE: DLC disappeared?
We are currently investigating cases of missing DLC in some rare circumstances.

What you need to make sure is that all your purchased DLC was purchased and activated successfully with the Kalypso Launcher account you are logging into the game (original or Modern Times) with. You should never need to manually copy *any* DLC files into %appdata% as the Launcher auto-detects your DLC ownership and re-downloads any missing files automatically.

There are three ways to acquire DLC ownership:

1.) Purchase DLC from http://launcher.kalypsomedia.com/ - requires you to log in to the site with your *existing* Kalypso Launcher account, ownership will be granted automatically immediately after successful micro-transaction.

2.) Purchase DLC from download websites - you will receive a DLC code to redeem via the game's Launcher ('Redeem Code') button. This requires you to be logged in to the website with your existing Kalypso Launcher account you use for Tropico 4.

3.) Purchase a boxed retail copy of Modern Times - installs on top of the original game from the disc and comes with a product key to activate online on your *existing* Kalypso Launcher account you used with Tropico 4.

If you are unsure of correct DLC ownership on your Kalypso Launcher account, please send an email to support@kalypsomedia.com with your registered Kalypso Launcher email address explaining where and how you purchased the DLC and we will make sure to help alleviate the problems. Again, make sure the game Launcher is always able to connect to our authentication servers in order to correctly grant DLC ownership. DLC content disappearing after a manual file copy indicates incorrect DLC ownership or other problems with your Kalypso Launcher account.

So how long do we wait for the 'solution' after we have sent the email to support with our T4, MT & DLC codes?
I ask because I sent all of my codes to support on the 4th April and am still having to cut and paste the DLC content every time I start a game - I have almost finished MT campaign now anyway....

[BTW - all of my challenge scores have also disappeared... so as I do not have any pirated copies of anything I guess this means it is the Kalypso Launcher with the bug.....]

T4SE boxed/DVD bought from Game or Zavvi/The Hut
MT boxed/DVD bought from Amazon
Junta and Plantador bought the key from GamersGate
Quick Dry Cement bought from Kalypso Launcher

I purchased a physical copy of T4 and MT both from Amazon USA. All 3 DLC I purchased from Gamersgate. All three of the DLC were working fine, once I started MT it works until I exited out of the game. The 2nd time I start MT the save file says I need DLC that I don't own.

If I unistall the game and reinstall T4, then the 3 DLC's, then MT it works fine. Until I exit the game...

Many many thanks Swixel Big Grin !

However I hope the devs see this and make the fix because I am too thick to understand how to fix it myself Wink

RE: DLC disappeared?
I seem to have lost just the Junta DLC. The Plantation and Contructor ones still seems to be there.
I did wonder why I couldn't build Bunkers in the Modern Times missions.

I should add that I bought the Junta DLC from GamersGate
but I bought the other 2 DLCs from the Kalypso Launcher.

Any news on when this is going to be fixed?

I sent support an email linking them to Swixel's solution above and they have emailed me today to say they are passing it on to the producers..... so hopefully soon Smile

RE: DLC disappeared?
Oh, a patch in the code would be a lot cleaner and easier than this. I could fix it the way they would, but I'm not inclined to hand out what I know about the DLC loading process (for obvious reasons).

What's happening when it goes missing is the other DLC is loaded first, then the Expansion's reloading of lua resets it. The load sequence could be arbitrary, as I'm not sure what filesystem extension they're using for Lua (I assume alphabetical).

The fix just requires you to save "dlcfix.lua" in a folder called "Game" in the same directory as "Tropico 4.exe".

RE: DLC disappeared?
I have a temporary solution for the missing DLCs in Modern Tropico.

Windows 7:

Directory: User > "Username" > AppData > Roaming > Tropico 4 > DLC

DLC-Files: "Construction", "Military", "Plantation"

Right-click each of these files and select the "read-only"-option.

Then "Modern Tropico" will no longer delete the files.

Good idea.
However, The Military file has already gone and I can't find a way to get it back. Is there any way to make Tropico re-download the file?

Weird. The problem I was seeing was DLC not reloading ... I missed the actual "gone" status of the files.

Thank you soo much Smile Smile Smile !
This method works for me - although I do have to make all of the files in the DLC folder read-only, not just the three expansion files.... Thanks againBig Grin !
