RE: Miss pineapple..
I agree, Miss Pineapple is really funny sometimes.

Although Penultimo had most of the funny moments. "...Shh, my team is winning!" whenever you shot someone cracks me up every time.
I absolutely despise Sunny Flowers, just like the Environmentalists in general. If only T4 had outlaw faction edict...Environmentalists are annoying like hell.

You would think that a dictator could pull that off.

Besides the Environmentalists, I really, really dislike the the Religious faction. "Last night _I_ was talking to God, and He told me..." To which I want to reply, "That's odd, I was talking to Him just this morning and He told me to do just the opposite!" Chew on that one, Father Esteban! Just try to prove me wrong! Every argument you can trot out to support your version works just as well for my version!

I miss being able to outlaw a faction and shoot Juanito. I really wish there was an edict to have Penultimo and Sunny Flowers shot just to shut her up.

Hey, Penultimo is cool =(. As for Juanito, you can kill him, he's just a rare NPC and extremely difficult to find. I once found him, and publicly executed him.

Just because there isnt an edict, doesnt mean you can outlaw the faction.

You have many opertunities to make them unwanted, atleast enough to leave the island..

fire them,

kick them out of their homes,

raise prices so they cant afford any entertainment.

Lock them up in jail...

and if they still havent left your island.. You can always line um up and shoot them with the military, Or if you like things a bit quieter, use your secret police.

So your right that outlawing isnt like t3, but in t4 its lots better! You really have to use your tools to effectively outlaw the faction and making them have no supporters.

Yeah I got that achievement randomly just by constantly having my Secret Police assassinate criminals.

"Misstress" Pineapple... the first time I heard that, my first reaction was O_O, and then I wish I could have gotten a General to go down to the Cabaret and... well, let's say I'm not a fan of Miss Pineapple's "tutoring sessions". I eventually found out what she' s teaching, and I failed the course. Showgirls are always paid one Presidente Coin in my island.
I don't like them.

Me too.

Just let me get my General in here. I'll show you "peace and love"!

Father Esteban ROCKS! As a Christian, I never get enough of the insider jokes that only certain denominations can get. For example, the "flock" comments, or the drunkeness. It's a joke on Baptists: their denomination expands "thou shall not drink too much wine" to "thou shall not drink".

WE MUST SCHOOL OUR CHILDREN IN PRAISING THE LORD THROUGH RUM!!

The first time I read that, I LITERALLY burst out loud laughing.

My other favorite is when you build a Pub:

"HALLEHLUJAH, THE HOUSE OF THE LORD HAS OPENED!"

"Esteban... that's a pub."

It never gets old!

RE: Miss pineapple..
personally my favorite voice acting and the lines come come from senator "nick Richards". i was floored the 1st time his screen pop up came up . "i am not a crook" lol never gets old.

i hated sunny flowers at 1st coz i loved Betty boom from T3 , sunny couldn't even come close to the level of humor Betty delivered. but lines where sunny and Penultimo deliver together are funny. so im ok with her now, and her "MUST...GET...TO..MALL" line really won me over.

as for Miss pineapple.. well... i think her the voice acting is the worst in the game! over the radio or in a message pop up it doesn't matter, shes completely mono-tone and emotionless. im not talking about the words in the script lines (which are actually funny) but im talking about the actual voice acting on how she delivers it.

really? I don't know how you can not bust out when she goes into her... "spanking" routine, Not sure how you can call that emotionless.. Its just not over the top like most acting is these days. I find her refreshing, and true to the part

Please remember the elementary school code:

Attempted murder? Spanking.
Successfuly murder? Spanking.
Attempted assasination of El Presidente? Spanking.
Successful assassination of El Presidente? Write "I will not kill El Presidente" one hundred times.

I also enjoyed "Hey El Presidente, let's do something PROGRESSIVE tonight". -and also "Can you do something about those bigoted cops? They had the audacity to arrest me in my nude protest! You must enact Sensitivity Training!"

She's the perfect stereotype of moral relatavism and what the Right sees as "wrong" with the Left. I admit that it's a blast. -but Father Esteban is still my favorite. I guess it's because I'm a Baptist: my denomination has a specific qualm with alcohol, which makes his rum even funnier.

I think you have consumed a couple of quarts of your grandmother's fermented peach preserves.

RE: Miss pineapple..
I find it quite interesting how Father Esteban seems to be (loosely) modeled on the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. I was actually expecting either a mitred bishop or a Jesuit.

I *loved* the part in the intellectuals-want-gay-marriage mission where Miss Pineapple stated that she felt that marriage should be "progressively" available to everyone even though she despised it as an outdated patriarchal bourgeois institution. Sometimes satire is closer to reality than media. Though, I must admit, the "Calling me names because of my chosen lifestyle" thing confused me, because I immediately assumed she was a closet lipstick lesbian, but then there's the whole affair she had with the Academy of Science workers and her "tutoring sessions" with El Presidente. Of course, these happen regardless of gender, but Penultimo also always addresses Presidente as a man.

I was quite surprised when the Nationalist spokesman turned out to be more of a bandito-cum-skinhead (I was expecting something more like a redneck paisano complaining about the foreigners "turking our jerbs"), but he quickly grew on me with some of the strange requests his faction made (that, and I had fun putting down the street riots way back in mission 6).

I'm still rather confused, overall, by the Europe faction. For starters, they aren't represented by a European (though, Chuffney would be *perfect* for a British Empire/Commonwealth faction), and secondly, why the heck do they care about my relations with the eggheads and the greenies? I mean, the US liking good relations with capitalists and the USSR with commies reflects their ideology and proxy political power plays, but I'm totally mystified by that one...

You know what's even creepier and MORE surprising? Where I come from, there are Hispanic men that SOUND JUST LIKE EL DIABLO. I KID YOU NOT. I mean, their accents are identical to his, even if their grammar and words are more advanced/less hateful, anbd their voices usually far deeper.

I like Miss Pineapple, but not Sunny Flowers. I thought the environmentalists were annoying in T3 but somehow Haemimont managed to make them even worse in T4. And the funny thing is, I am pro environmentalism and all that, but the problem as usual is that industrial development and sustainable environmentalism do not go hand in hand. Hell, even the academia keeps spurring out topics about how to get around the problem. I am pleasantly surprised with the addition of organic crops though, AND that they cost 100% more than regular ones. I wish there were more options like that.

Ah, but that would require digging up Mother Earth! Can't have that either! That would be like raping your own mother that bore you, sustained you, and provides for you! Cool

Just focus on a tourist economy that serves delicous organic fruit for export and planter's punch (now with 20% more organic waste when you are done!) where the entertainment is powered by unconfirmist wind turnbines. The only problem is the smelly tenements. Sunny's ideal paradise. Ideally the goal of environmentalists is to make sure we could build a society that won't screw nature over. Mother Nature's toes must be stepped on but lets not break her legs.
