RE: stuck please help
1. Do you have any mods?
2. Is this saving or loading?
3. System specifications would be helpful.

An idea on testing this:
Try creating a new sandbox game on a map (i.e. not random). If that loads/works, quit the game, and look at the log (%APPDATA%\Tropico 4\logs). Put it here in code tags (the # button on rich view, or
and
tags if you're using plain text mode).

If it doesn't load, load up the game, exit from the main menu, and copy a log here so we can poke around your data (i.e. see if anything is messed up).

Hopefully someone from Haemimont or Kalypso will have an idea of what it is based on that information.

RE: stuck please help
Unfortunately, I have no idea what's wrong from that, but hopefully one of the wonderful people from Haemimont or Kalypso will be able to look at it (granted, during the week).

The annoying part is that there's nothing particularly weird in that log -- I can replicate the "lock-up on load" with badly written mod code, which is why I was wondering about that, and what it says... the only particularly strange bit is 'Name: D:\Program Files (x86)\Kalypso Media\Tropico 4\Tropico4.exe', i.e. "D:", but that shouldn't be the cause (though I use C:, and just mount a drive there Wink).

Hi, I'm certainly no computer genius, but have you tried to install the game on disk C. You seems to have My Documents and AppData in C drive. It may cause the game not working properly? I think it's not a good idea to have the program and data on different disks

Try it! Uninstall the game from the D drive and install on C.

RE: stuck please help
do you mean you get stuck on the load screen after say clicking on play campaign?

If so i had the EXACT same issue. I never did figure out exaclly what was wrong, but it finally started working after i updated every possible thing i could think of, (sound, video, mother board drivers) and Installed tropico 3, then reinstalled tropico 4

I have no idea if reinstalling tropico 3 fixed something. (i have no idea why this would, but perhaps there is some file in the direct X setup that tropico 4 uses that doesnt update>> or the computer finally got a windows update that fixed what ever was happening. but it does run now.

No, there is absolutely no problem to have the game on another hard drive.

I suppose that the game is crashing, but silently. Try first the debugging steps described in the crash thread: http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=13322

Also try to run the game in a window, just to make sure that the focus is still in the game window when loading. After freezing, check if Tropico 4 process has some activity in the task manager.

I had this exact issue.. i couldnt play for a few months. I installed a new harddrive, and when i reinstalled the game i couldn't get it to run. I tried updating everything and even reinstalled the game a couple times.

I gave up a while, and about a month or 2 later i installed tropico 3. It worked fine. I then contacted kaylpso again and they had me send them a file, but when i couldnt locate it. (i had the windows file setting hidden for some reason) I got pissed and uninstalled and reinstalled it. Finally it worked.

Do you have tropico 3? cause like i said, i couldnt get it working till i installed it. I'm not saying for sure that is what fixed it, but it certainly does seem that way.

Unless like i said, there was some update that happened that i did'nt realize and reinstalling the game finally fixed it.

Just make sure you have the latest motherboard, video, sound drivers, and all the latest windows updates, including DX and service packs.

As i said i'm not sure entirely, But i have a sneaking feeling that t3 might update something in the DX that t4 misses. I wish i could be more helpfull to track down what exactly happened to get mine working again, or more info on why it wasn't..
