Now, seems being that this game is currently out world-wide, and sales have obviously increased, I have begun to notice that most questions, suggestions have gone un-answered. I don't understand the reasoning behind this, but I do know that some of these threads/posts should be answered.

I have stuck up for Kalypso in the past, and now find that my favoritism, and trust have been extremely misplaced.

The Modding Poll has been very active, and a request for a response has been indicated by myself, and others to no avail, along with other questions from some of you, directly, or indirectly.

Did Kalypso forget about the purchasing community, or did they just forget about keeping relations with us? I know their looking, and reading, because they say "they see everything". Well how about a response to what you see? Is this too much to ask from loyal consumers?

Any other input pros, or cons, would be appreciated.

I guess I have now seen the light. Sad

On the one hand, I'm glad you finally have come to understand the pains of the people who get 'forgotten' Tropico Bob... But on the other hand I am really saddened...

I know that by increasing the mod-ability of this game it would reinvigorate the community and draw in new players every day... But I also know that Kalypso probably don't care that much about releasing tools or a map editor or whatever...

I really hope I'm wrong and that there's a Kalypso staff member reading this right now, shaking his head as he prepares to release an update giving more modding functionality but that really seems unlikely Sad.

Come on Kalypso... Have you forgotten what it means to be a gamer? If you just wanted to make money you could have created ANY company but you didn't, you created a company that develops games, presumably because you like games... Let us share in that love and passion too! The community wants it so bad... Please... Won't you do us this one favor? We'll all promise to buy your next game if you do Smile!

Tropico 3 was released just a week ago, I'm sure they have a lot of things to do. After releasing a game, answering questions about modding is not their major goal, they'll probably have a lot of things on their head. Besides, you don't know what they are doing or what's happening their.

I honestly dont see why you can be so pessimistic, Haemimont delivered a great game and time will tell what more they will bring us.

RE: Opinion Quickly Changing Toward Kalypso.
Humm - you created the Modding Poll on 16-11-2009 and are complaining about a lack of a response just three days later. As Yuukazi said, it is rather likely that the Haemimont team are busy detailing with the post-release bugs that have inevitably surfaced now that the game is being played by thousands of people, on thousands of different machines with different configurations.

I'm not quite sure how closely Kalypso works with Haemimont, but why does everyone seem to assume that the staff of these forums are intimately involved with the game development process? Kalypso are the publishers, not the developers. The game has only just hit the shelves a week ago in parts of the world, I think we're expecting rather a lot if we want addons / expansion packs straight away Wink

I worked for a software company, and in the run up to product release I'd be working 12 hours days. After release it doesn't just stop, there's a lot of post-release work.

So give them some slack.

Didn't Assen replied to modding threads a lot? you can view his answers. he is from Kalypso. but they don't have to answer suggestions. Many other companies don't reply to suggestions, they need to study the suggestions, and they can't give information before they finish anything. beside most games don't allow modding in their license, Kalypso developers been nice so far to participate in talking about mods. and I think they might help us more, I suggest we do not seek fries from now.

Correction: I work for Haemimont Games, the developer, not Kalypso, the publisher of Tropico 3.

I was not aware of this. Your avatar does not indicate this, or your profile. So, how could one know? My apologies in either case.

yes, sorry Cool I guessed Haemimont, since you are a developer, but I have hard time remembering the spelling, I think you guys should write it in the header of the site. just saying (; I ll try remembering though.

I realize you're new to the forum, but the Modding questions, and suggestions were in 3 other related threads for some time. I just thought some sort of response was due us. I'm not asking for a release of Modding today, tomorrow, or in a couple of months from now. I'm just asking for a reply.

Timo has replied in the Modding Poll Thread, and I accept his explanation. I won't beat this topic up any further, as there is no longer a need to do so. I made my point, and he (Timo) made his. If Timo now feels it neccessary to lock this thread, I would not object, as the question has now been answered.

This is a new account, but I've been lurking on here in the shadows for a while now ;3. But it was not my intention to single you in some kind of trollish witchhunt, Tropico Bob. I actually enjoy reading your posts around the forums.

I never accused you of such. I was only pointing out that the Modding subject has been around for a while. Judging how many posts you have written, one can only assume you are new. There was no offense intended, and I'm glad you like my postings. Thanks. Cool
