Xbox360: Campaign Deep in Oil
Hi everyone,
This my first post on this forum- I have tropico3 for the xbox360
I tried using the search bar to look for some tips on the map for (deep in oil), (No Luck).
So can anyone tell me a good strategy to beat the DEEP in OIL map.
I tried it few times, and I get the same result- "Damn Rebels won't leave me alone."
I tried building up my army but I still get raided by rebels. I even paid for the US special training for soldiers to deal with the rebels, and still failed. I used Anastasio Somoza b/c of the free diplomatic embassy.
I swear I was really motivated to beat all 15 maps-
but DEEP in OIL map is kicking my Butt.
Appreciate any comments or strategy tips

How many of the challenges have you beat?
Btw The rebels are the challenge in "Deep In Oil." No matter how benevolent you are in your leadership, you will still get some of them.
My tips:
1.) You had the right approach with a large army. Get Military Modernization and a decent army and you should be solid. If you got your Palace, an Army Base, and 1-2 guard stations fully staffed, the rebels will be no problem as you can kill them as easily as they show up.
2.) Use Amnesty like free candy if possible.
3.) Do NOT make the deal for the 50k. Long term ripoff
4.) Use a Custom avatar. For "Deep In Oil," the best backgrounds to have would by either War Hero or Oil Tycoon in my opinion. The rest is even more subjective.
If you like the free embassy choose Diplomatic as a quality.
Capitalist (+++) Leader
Religious (+++)
Intellectual (++)
Nationalist (++)
Militarist (+)
Communist (-)
Environmentalist (--)
Loyalist (--)

Challenge No, I'm playing the campaign where there's a total of 15 different islands to beat- I'm by the 11th island ( Deep in Oil). I'm playing the xbox 360 version, not sure if the pc version has same campaign.
I always get the Military Modernization, built up my soldiers to 20+, pay 4000 dollars for special training from the US to improve my military, and pay good wages and still the rebels attack hard 20+. I've been through 5-6 battles in one game. Eventually I run out money rebuilding mines or oil wells that rebels attack.

RE: Deep in Oil (offer me some advice PLEASE.)
I just finished this scenario. In my game, I just couldn't seem to get amnesty to work, so I turned instead to maintaining a large, well-paid military spread out in key areas (posts near most expensive or important buildings). In that same vein, it's important to get a high school up early to train soldiers quickly and provide a pool of educated people when any soldiers get killed.
My other tactic was to build a prison and imprison ANYONE who started a protest, especially in crowded areas. Don't want the peasants to get any ideas... Also do what you can to raise respect... the childhood museum, speeches and so forth.
Lastly, have plenty of food and use the double-rations edict, plus any other edicts that raise happiness as needed. Try to keep the various factions happy by building a newspaper.
And above all, try to get as many oil-producing buildings up and running as quickly as you have the money. The faster you get the oil shipped, the faster you are done with the scenario, the less chances to lose.
