review of the game?
Hello,
I have been waiting for a long time for this game and I wanted a few opinions about the game before buying the game.
Is it challenging?
I heard that the castle building was a little poor compared to other games of the same genre.

thanks for your opinions.

well i haven't played it that much to say anything about the general difficulty
but castle building is pretty much the same as disciples 2, so depending on weather or not you like the game design of disciples 2 you may judge it for your self
there should be a demo out soon

It has been a long time I played Disciples...
But in general would you say the game is better?
What are the things that changed since D2?

I'll probably wait for the demo but mhm not sure I really want to wait for it Smile. Ill probably go and buy the game soon if the demo does not come out quickly.

RE: review of the game?
Staying on what the OP was saying but adding my own twist - if I can get some members of the communities opinions here. I have been disappointed recently, with a sequel to a franchise that I loved (Majesty 2 butchered Majesty). Being a big fan of Disciples 2, can anyone tell me if D3 will be pretty similar to D2? The problem with Majesty 2 was, it completely took a left turn from the original, made it more generic and took out all the charm. I just am hoping that D3 will stay true to the series - if I can get some community/veteran disciples series players input here it will greatly determine if I will get the game or stay away lest my heart be broken again!

RE: review of the game?
This game is bad. Im trying not to just compare it to HOMM, but there isnt much I liked about the tactical game.
(The graphics are amazing though)

Like old Disciple's when you lose your main army you are scrwed. Its almost impossible to make a second army that can fight anything that matters.

Equipment is generally boring. I can find no rules for my leaders and creature powers. Tactics on the field are overwhelmed by the massive spells you can do beforehand on the strategic map and/or the sometimes very powerful runes that make what your characters do seem trival. Starting healers are almost worthless. You end up with way to much rock and off mana types with no way to trade them.

The AI is dumb as a rock (see, you get more rocks).
I played a hotseat with my friend. There is ONE map that allows three players so we teamed against an AI that was getting x3 resources. Way to easy.
We wiped his presence off the board and he seemed to make no effort to start a new army.
The starting castle defending creature was so crazy tough I could see no way, given the maps potential exp, (from fighting npc groups) that you could ever get an army tough enough to beat one.

I still hope modders might make a good game. Not sure what private modders can do about AI though. I would hope at least you could have a map that was a bit bigger so you could explore a bit.
Id like to be able to muliplayer with more than three sides...cant two people ever be the same faction? I suppose that would mess up the ground graphics by faction telling you who owns what land.
Also, I think making it so you could recruit higher lvl guys once youve lvled one/some yourself would go along way to making a back up army viable.

Wak

something tells me that this guy doesn't like it
the 3x resources is bugged so you might as well give up on that, and there is a map editor coming out soon

Played it now for 3 days, it is very true to D2 (which is a very good thing in my opinion) with a bit of evolution, e.g. battle more HoMM-style (implemented very well and fun), overland exploration: a bit more interaction with the environments (just enough, not exaggerated as in HoMM, "so many resources to fetch, so many creatures to recruit, can´t decide where to go...").
All in all great update of the Disciples franchise, transition into 3D very well done, graphics are nothing short of fantastic in most parts.
If you loved D2, you will surely be very happy with D3.
If they finally bring out the missing 2 races (Clans and Horde) and the editor, squish the remaining bugs and add a little more Multiplayer value (map number, starting options) this will be a Fantasy-TBS lover´s wet dream. Big Grin

I would suggest reading this thread at the Elemental website. louist went into a lot of detail.

Sounds good! Thanks for the review, I appreciate the insight from a fellow fan of the series. Judging by your post, and other posts here on the forums, I can see it seems that D3 is following the "feel" of the series which in my book is a great thing.

Now all I wait for is some statements from the devs intending they plan to follow through and make multiple patches - too often a good promising game gets just one hotfix/small patch and is abandoned. With all the good talk about this game, if there is something official about supporting the game and fleshing out the bugs you and others have reported, I will 100% buy it now! Smile

No problem. I thought you did an excellent job in both cases.
