So I'm using the original PC version of DarkStar One on Windows 7 32-bit, and it works fine until I install 1.3, then game says that SHUNIMPL.dll is missing.

The file exists in both the windows folder and the game folder. This appears to be related to the copy protection because if I apply a crack to it, the game loads. However, due to the copy protection, the screen starts shaking violently and the game is unplayable. I have the retail DVD, and previous versions work fine, but I'd really like a way to run version 1.3 in a playable manner because there are some mods that I'd like to try, but the mods don't work on previous versions.

This version seems to be the original version from Ascaron. It's copy protection is not compatible with Windows 7. The game will not run on this system. This old version is not supported anymore.

UPDATE: I managed to fix it! First I downloaded the newest version of the Tages drivers (I re-installed the ones from the DVD but they were blocked, so I used the suggestion by Microsoft to download the updated ones). Next, I set the game to run on compatibility mode as an administrator and with the Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) option.

Without compatibility mode, the SHUNIMPL.dll error would appear, but when set to Vista SP2, the error does not appear. Except for a different appearance of the cutscene when warping between systems (it seems much darker than it used to be), the game works as perfectly as it did before!
