More religions would be nice, like Protestantism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism. What do you think?

I think you wouldnt find many Muslims and Hindus on a Banana republic.

I agree, more religions wouldnt really fit in with the theme of the game.

Actually, May not be a banana republic. But many Caribbean Islands have a large Indian and African population.

For example; Trinidad and Tobago's current population is around 25 percent Hindu

Trinidad and Tobago were British Colonies and India is\was a member of the British Commonwealth (as was South Africa where there was a large number of Indians) so the Indians were "encouraged" to migrate there as either cheap labor or small businessmen.

Thats now.

Remember this game starts out in like the 1950s. I just dont think that there were all that many religions floating around in banana republics back then.

No one is paying much attention to the 1950 "kick-off" date.

But Aliasing's point should be taken seriously. Can you say that the Hindus were not there in 1950? Perhaps you can also speak with authority about the non-Christian population of Haiti in 1950.

Bad idea about adding unnecessarily religions. It would take to much space and create too much conflict. The game would become too hard and difficult to appease the population.

I'd rather have the ability to go full Atheist, like Commy Russia.

More religions aren't needed.
There are more important and interesting things they could add.

All of those except for Protestantism don't make sense. Protestantism would be very small, and I don't see Paganism as being important enough. The only thing I can see is Protestant and Mormon missionaries.

It's been mentioned before by a few of us that additional religions would be nice, even if they were fringe and had minor demands and smaller temples, given their status would typically be minority compared to the predominant Christian/Catholic culture.

another thought.. with this game going to world wide, vrs what i would think of as a caribean island... many other parts of the world have different religious needs.

i could see my island being in the south pacific, just as easy as the gulf of mexico. Just something to think about

well one nice thing is the challenge editor might beable to make some interesting challenges with it.

An interesting idea, but no. Tropico is set in a Spanish specking Latin American country in which the Catholic church historically dominates. Adding new religion will push the game beyond the suspension of disbelief.

The most that I can personally accept is a 'Freedom of religion' edict, in which the citizens on the island will be allowed to worship whatever they want with no state interference. It will increase the liberty rating, the respect of the intellectuals, and not everyone will need to go to churches anymore. But the respect of the religious faction will decrease as their influence will be diminished.
