Hello good folks of the forums,

I am new to this game and I have a few questions that I hope you might help me with.

1. I purchased this game from a fellow on Ebay (it has not arrived yet) and after the purchase was complete I realized that Kalypso uses a product-key verification. If the fellow who previously owned this game has already used the product-key will I be able to use it too?

2. I read the manual online, and I only saw 6 or so types of monsters that you can use to guard your dungeon / feed heroes. Is that all there is or are their more?

3. One of the critiques leveled against this game upon release was that the ability tree was unbalanced, with some abilities being nigh-useless and others being over-powered. Is this actually the case?

1. You can write an email to the kalypso support about reactivating your game key.

2. There are 5 type of "normal" monsters plus one boss monster per chapter to summon in your throne room and there are three chapters. That makes a total of 18 different monsters.

3. About balancing issues.. there were a couple of major corrections in patches after release, addressing the new skills from content patches or adjusting existing ones. To which reviews are you referring?

Thank you very much for your response.

I don't remember specifically which reviews talked about the balancing issues, I've read and watched close to 2 dozen I think. A number of them were independent reviews hosted on Gamespot, but I am sure that they were at least slightly partisan.

Only 8 monster types then, hmm...

18, not 8. 6 per chapter (5 normal and one boss for every chapter).

There are wererats, vampire bats, slimes, beholder, skeletons, lions, stone guards, giant frogs, flying snakes, giant scorpions, spider demons, fire worms, hellhounds, imps and burning skulls as normal monsters. And an undead butcher, a colossus and a fire angle as boss guards.

From the heroic side, there are novices, adventurers, fighters, mages, thiefs, priests, necromancer, assassins, paladins and champions.

Be aware, that in Dungeons, your monsters are typically the cannon fodder for heroes, not vice versa. If you played a lot of dungeon keeper before, that might surprise you at first. But if you played a lot of Diablo or WoW, you know that mere normal "non-unique" monster usually never really threaten a well equiped hero Wink.

And what you also might know from the latter games is, that when you meet an unique guard monster or even the dungeonlord himself, you better start running. Same goes for the heroes in Dungeons when they meet YOU Big Grin (or your guard monster)

Oh! I totally misunderstood you! I thought you had said 5 monsters +1 extra per chapter. Ok, 18 isn't bad at all.

I understand the concept of the game and how it is different from Dungeon Keeper, sounds like a lot of fun.

I am having some issues with the demo though. The sound and video is really choppy in the game intro. The sound in game randomly stalls and then repeats itself when the tutorial imp is speaking.

My computer meets the minimum requirements (barely) and all my drivers are up to date.
Ok, now it doesn't run at all. I get good sound but no video and then it just stops. I'll take a look here on the forums to see if I can't solve this issue.

The fastest way is probably to send a whole log file after the crash (the one here seems to be cutted in the middle by the forum software Sad ) together with the dxdiag.txt and a small description of your problem (or link to your post) to support@kalypsomedia.com.

To circumvent the forum cutting off the log, you can also use services like http://pastebin.com Wink
