I agree that there are too few flag choices - they're all the same colours too.
I think that town inhabitants should 'say' something when you click on them like in Patrician. That was added to Patrician 4, so I assume it could be added here.

please allow us to toggle the building names back on
this shouldn't be too difficult considering that it was on at the start of the game

and its really dumb how you guys decided that it should be removed
plus in the manual there is 2 functions for ctrl key, one which should have brought back the building labels

I absolutely agree! The native resolution of my screen is 2560x1600. I would love to be able to use that for a sharp & crisp image, and not have 1900x1200 blown up to fit.

It should really be able to do any resolution thrown at it, its a shame that it cannot just adapt to those your system offers. I wanted to use it with a triple-vert surround setup for instance but the game refuses to even offer the 3240x1920 option.

The name Holland shouldn't be used. Holland is part of the country but its not the country. You should call it the dutch republic.

Even better would probably just be a scrolling message log.

This is a fantastic idea.

I really like how they made the mini town interface window available when you dock at a port, so you dont have to load the town screen every time you visit like in Patrician. However I still need to see if there are any tavern quests/ palace quests/ ships to buy so I still have to visit the town almsot every time. Would it be possible that when you dock at the town (and only when you dock) you also show icons over the town for each of these available? It would be the same icon that hovers up and down over the buildings when you open the town screen but it would show over the town icon on the map screen... Or maybe another tab on that mini interface that summarizes the quests/ships available.

Also, another request for auto-buy on stewards.

I am getting really tired of the game micromanaging the buys I used to do automatically in Patrician IV once I built warehouse and hired Steward.

W/out such a feature I really can't focus on having fun in the game it feels like working.

I can use the fastkeys to open the windows inside the game,
but I need to close the windows by clicking the (X)
so I hope the fastkeys can open AND CLOSE THE WINDOWS inside the game.

you can close most windows by mouse rightclick

The decreasing of popularity is too fast, faster than I find a quest to increase it.
And I need to enter a city to see if it available.
So I hope the quest can show on the map near the city.
ie. if a city has a quest than a icon will show on the map next by the city.
OR increase the chance of a quest.

I need to "MAKE" the queat myself, ...

Battles: At the moment its largely easier to pay the pirate "tax" as a trader than fight. The blunt fact is that with the present state of the friendly AI most fights end up being expensive if you can't win them with one ship:

1) Improve friendly AI. Its main function appears to be trying to get sunk as quickly as possible, usually with almost suicidal bravery charging into the middle of the enemy fleet. Have an option that they can follow you in line formation for example.

It's second function is shooting at you when you are trying to board an enemy ship. Have it so they don't shoot when you're in the way!

2) Have an option where you can use escorts to "screen" enemies out, so that you can fight with one ship against less enemies.

3) Improve explosive barrels - so that the ai don't know they're coming.

4) Elite Crews/ship upgrades/rum rations. A rich traders/privateers could hire experienced sailors (faster turning/reload speeds/accuracy), better cannons/ powder or better quality balls).

UI:

1) Easier way of keeping track of convoys and their productivity (think the railroad tycoon system for trains for example.
2) When the advisor says there is a problem actually say what the problem is!
3) Likewise if there is a shortage of resources (either building or trade) say what resources are short.
4) If a quest has a place to visit a clickable link to take you there.
5) A searchable map in the game rather than having to alt tab out!

Trading:

1) Let us order ships from Europe for delivery so we can pick which one, but have a serious time delay in doing so, or bribe viceroys to "retire" a naval ship or two.
2) Buy to/sell to a certain price level that you can save for each commodity or have a "Sell to the first green bit"
3) A few more nefarious tricks (fires in competitors factories for example)

General Bug Fixing

Others have listed them better than me!

it says that steward is suppose to sell and buy goods at your ware house that your buinessnes need to operat but he dosnt do it forcing me to micro manage all supplys needed for my buinessnes like rum distriller its really annoying wish he would just automaticly buy what is needed for the buinessnes instead of leting my stock piles deplet.

wish list bring back gambling at the tavern in all portrolays you could play poker and dice and gamble they took this out of the game wish it could come back.

also now that we are on topic on features to add how about banks be nice to be able to take loans out agin, and be able to creat a bank.

and it seems that i can not decorate the town any more build walk ways and fontians and plant tress whats up with that ?

my biggest complaint is that your reputation with a nation can drop 35 points because when an alliance is reached your reputation with both nations is averaged between them. I had a 99 reputation drop down to a 63 because the Dutch(99 rep) became allies with the English(rep 27). I now have to do stupid assignments to build my rep back up so i can get a letter of marque again. this happened to me several times and it kills game play for me

let you set your captains strategy for combat if you use auto simulation..... like capture, plunder, sink

Ship capture is nearly impossible because when i try to capture a ship the other 2 ships in my convoy end up sinking because they fight retarded

make maintaining your national reputation easier

hey everyone Smile

among many other suggestions already posted on this thread i would like the following to be considered by the devs.

I think that a list of the cities sorted by reputation is a must have. I find myself many times looking at all the cities' info to see how much reputation i have there to see if i have enough to buy a license.

In the window called "Chronicle" there is a tab named "Statistics". There i can see a town list sorted by population amongst other things. I think it wouldn't be hard to add another option to list those towns sorted by reputation.

I would like to know if anybody else finds himself with the same problem or if there is way to do this that i didn't see Tongue

Thank you Smile

Two little tweaks that would make the trade route management a whole lot less frustrating:

1) Being able to have more than one window open at once! Having to write down on a bit of paper my industrial usage per 10 days so that I can set it correctly in the trade route strategy window is silly. I don't really want to have to have a notepad to hand while I play.

2). Being able to set a Max cargo level for My Strategy rather than just just a buy this amount at a port. That way I can fine tune trade routes to collect raw materials from market and never end up with my warehouse filling up with raw materials over time. Foe example if I have 4 ports on my trade route, rather than setting an amount of a commodity to buy in each port I can say that I want a maximum number of units for the trip. So if I hit that maximum in the first two ports the ship won't buy more in the next two ports.
Reply
Please oh please put BACK the ability to set auto-buy at the warehouse. I have no idea who in their right mind decided it was a good idea to remove that. It's been a feature of these games (Port Royale and Patrician) for YEARS. It might have been fine if the supply "strategy" for ships actually worked (it doesn't) but honestly, why should I have to set up a trade route when someone (AI, my ships set to profit) is supplying the city with the the materials so the prices are acceptable?

Also, please fix combat. It's basically down to me manually using a single ship (multiple ships will end up costing me ships since there's no pause key I can hit to quickly pause and adjust courses for other ships) and having to wear down each and every ship in the other fleet until they sink. I miss combat in Patrician 3 where you could bring them down and based on their captain's experience, they might turn tail and run.

On top of that, the drafting thing is broken since I'll be passing near a reef but no where on it and the game will slow me down like I hit the reef. Maybe it's there but you're not showing it well, I'm afraid. And, while we're on the subject of reefs...what the? Where on Earth is there that much ocean that has that many reefs?! Having some here and there is a great tactical foil but every square inch of the endless combat map? It's ridiculous.

Next, can you fix the reputation system? If I dedicate myself to fulfilling requests at colonies and my rep inches up slowly from 25%. I spent a week at sea and I lose more than half of it. Huh? You've got to sit there and grind those missions to inch up and then you lose it because you're out at sea for a month? C'mon...

Lastly, while we're at it about rep: please, please, please either allow me to get a letter of marque easier or just allow me to attack vessels of my enemy to gain rep. It's just ridiculous. I've got to get up to 75% rep to get a letter of marque and only (of course) when the country is at war. Meanwhile, uh, my country's at war, my port's being blockaded and I can't do anything about it? I can't fight for king and country? Worse, if I attack without a letter of marque, I lose 30% rep from EVERY country?!? I just killed the blockade for a major English colony and my reward is England declaring war? Don't give me the excuse that a pirate is a pirate. I wasn't a pirate. I was defending my country. I should get a rep increase with my country, maybe not as much as I'd get with a Letter of Marque, but something. Or at least I should get no rep loss for my effort. As for the other countries, major rep loss for the country who owned the ship? Sure. For Spain who could care less about the conflict between Holland and France? Why would they declare war on me? I'm probably helping them by eliminating the competition!!

I was so looking forward to this game and while there are fun moments, there are mostly annoyances stemming from the above balance issues. Oh yeah, and North East of Bermuda Island should mean somewhere NOT ON BERMUDA ISLAND. Just say Near or something and we'll be good to go.

I'd like to see Piracy become a sorta 5th faction, allowing a Pirate player to interact with hideouts to sell their stolen goods (for waaaaay less than you make from trading) and hire sailors, say after your reputation with all nations has fallen below 25%.

At the moment, there isn't any tangible way to actually earn a living as a pirate, making the Subtitle "Pirates and Merchants" fairly misleading. Though I fully intended to trade my way to victory, I was looking forward to taking a break once in a while by going on a Caribbean-wide terror spree.

DAFUQ is up with loosing 30% of fame for "spain" and then + 30% for whatever ever country it makes peace with or what not ... that is freaking annoying then you have to sail arround for every town hoping there is some goods fame quests unless you want to spam new production plants in the town you already have licens in.. IF they are there too... its retarded.. why would i lose fame cause they made peace with someone ?! and get more fame with them ?

1. Construction requires building materials from market. I should be able to use them from warehouse.

2. There is no auto purchase and selling options (warehouse). There should be manual price setting for auto purchase and Sell.

3. I still couldn't duel any captain. Is the option really available?

4. Graphics and Icons are bad looking like "East India Co." game.

5. There should be gambling options

6. PR2's ship maneuver and fighting was good. It should show ship speed and wind direction.

7. Total required building material should be shown

PR3 should be better than PR2. Why it isn't? Many options from PR2 aren't available.Feels like i am playing PR1 which is full underdeveloped and have really limited functions than PR2.

I don't think we have any more hope for this game. It's so f**ked-up. They aren't even checking this Threads (because there are no reply so far) and they don't get any money from updates. I made a mistake buying this game. HD release of PR2 would have been better.

I don't understand one thing when i am pirate (rep below 25%), sometimes when you traveling between cities, you can met in tavern pirate offering random bunch of goods. When we have pirate "status" we can't even dock outside city or something, if we don't have any cities, being pirate is pointless, Not to mention the fact that gaining of the crew is very difficult, a have big problems with that and i very rarely have full crew. Skipping the fact that as a pirate earning it is almost impossible, my advise, focus on trade only Sad
Reply
1. Losing reputation rate while you're at sea is way too high. I know I can work around it and browsing the forums I can figure a way to do it but it just should be more sensible in the game. I have 25% rep with spain, I do a mission which forces me to sail for 1 day from the city, I complete the mission by the time I get back to the town I'm down to 29% rep, not fun.

2. Your preset auto trade don't seem to work, not a big deal since it is fairly easy to customize but keeping your warehouses supplied without the auto option is a bitch.

3. I can't figure out combat on manual and it doesn't seem like your captains gain anything in automated mode. I spend most of my time building a badass convoy, finding pirates "trashing" them in auto mode, repair and repeat, not really enjoyable but it gets the job done I guess. Have not experienced the town attacks yet but I hear it is not much fun (honestly I can live with that since that is not really the purpose of this game)

Must say that I am enjoying the game (until the freeze bug showed up in the last patch) and look forward to the improvements and add-ons.

Not sure if any of my suggestions have already been taken but i didnt wanna read all 5 pages of that Tongue

1) Have a note on your multiplayer room when people see u in the local box
for example when people click refresh on multiplayer looby players will be able to have a side note beside their name stating details of the room

2) Revamp whole combat system..
EVERYTHING in pr3 i LOVE but the combat system OMG
please make it like it was in pr2, i cant even tag someones boat, it's almost impossible, and the firing is really messed up....

3) Hotkeys, implement hotkeys, the clicking is too much

4) Make the custom trade route more user friendly, ask i change the settings to make my boat take resources from the town or my warehouse, it changes for all towns in my list....

5) Allow towns without a Vicory to be administered.

6) Larger variety in quests, more intelligent random quests, there is only like 3 types of quests u can do, and i have lots of fun completing them but i feel there should be more

7) Larger variety in ships, basically the ships in pr3 are the same as in pr2
with like 2 new ones, lots and lots of ships with different looks

8) I repeat, revamp whole navel combat system, pleaseeee, and add hotkeys, very much needed

9) The randomly placed production areas is a no-no, have each section of the map have fixed products they can produce so people can create detailed maps and be able to study them and get used to them, like south always makes coffee, north always dye, ect

10) Larger variety in settings, i was very disappointed to see very limited options in hotkeys/settings

11) Wider range of weapons >>and<< effectiveness on weapons, for example, swords have a 15% attack bonus over hand-held pistols
rapiers have a 15% attack bonus vs swords.... u get my flow

12) I absolutely love the merchant idea where u can buy large amounts of goods for a price in the tavern, i would like to see an increased rate of this quest

(BUG) The merchant quest (have x amount of cigars in your warehouse by x date and ill pay x amount per barrel) is bugged, i had 1000 cigars in my warehouse, failed the mission>><< (BUG) There was twice in single player free play ive encountered a mission which had something like deliever (32 ropes 17 clothing 17 clothing 32 meat) dont remember the exact amounts but that was close, i kept trying to give the town 34 clothing and it would keep saying 34/17 deilevered, it never filled the 2nd set of clothing, encountered this bug twice in a 5 hour session of free play with the latest patch of the game running with steam

This is all I could think of at the moment, thanks for taking the time to review my thoughts

9) you have a standard production placement .. i assume you accidentally activated the "random production"option while creating a new game

yep but i would like the option to be completely taken out because when in multiplayer games, the host can change the settings himself

13) Saveable settings in multiplayer, each time i join a new game it copys his settings when i try to create a new game of my own, also for my personal settings, each time i enter a new room my settings for personal change, would be nice if we had an option to make these settings sticky and wont be changed when entering/leaving rooms

14) Larger variety of flags, maybe even upload your own image of your choice for your flag? much like your steam avatar? would be really nice Tongue

15) Completely Neutral places in the world like indian huts which are completely neutral AI which u can buy from, they have trade fleets, ect, they arent apart of any nation, maybe some merchant towns, indian towns, would be nice, much like the neutral AIs in anno 1404 if u played that game

16) Sound notification when someone in looby/multiplayer room sends a message/enters room, when im alt tabbed i often miss people coming in and saying hi, then they leave cause i have no way of knowing if they are in there as i was tired of waiting for someone to join due the to lack of players looking for multiplayer

Could you post a screenshot of this? Or of the failled mission from your logbook?

Because I think you've misunderstood the mission.
It's more likely that one of the goods you needed to deliver was cloth (plain "white") and the other one was clothing (textile) (coloured).

In your logbook - the one where you can find your balance, etc - there's an tab called "Task".

When clicking at that one, you can bring back all misisons; including the ones you've done / failed.

If you can look for the mission in there, post a screenshot - in the bug thread, where this actually belongs - we might get a better look at it. And it would help the dev's a lot better. Wink
