hey All,

Currently in 4th mission and somehow I am unable to change building options for instance from general education to > Parachioal education or from normal training to special ops training.

I press it the same way as in tropico 3 and the bar pops up and immedialty goes away making it impossible for me to change. Anyone else has this problem?

AFAIK (I'm on a vacation right now, so I can't check) versions of the game that got released later (like the Steam version) have this already fixed in them. Anyway, it will be fixed in the first patch (again I can't give you an ETA because I'm away from the office).

Awwwwwww yeaaaaaaaah.

I bought my version in person, so I'm eagerly awaiting patch release. Thanks for the heads up!

Another bug i found is that Mausuleum is not properly collecting fees, making it an absolute expense.

Although not a bug, but a good feature I could suggest a submenu in the Economics Tab of the Almanac, listing all current job positions on the island with sliders for salary and current job quality next to them for easier job quality management. It will save time and tons of clicks on buildings. Smile

Not sure if any of this is working as intended...

You can hire retired people to the ministry.. (hired a 70 year old as my defence minsiter, though in some ways i like this.. good way to get some work outta those lazy retired people!

Homless can use restraunts, even with price range way above what they should beable to pay.

You cant veiw the almanac when promted for a choice on something, one that effects politic. So basically its impossible to make informed decisions as you cant veiw the almanac to see what the factions rating is. This also effects hiring workers to minsitry to obtain more info before hiring.

Larger Islands was the main reason for me to buy the game. If you can build only on a small part of the Island, then what's the point to have large Islands. I'll buy the game when they address this problem.

Bug Report: Whenever attempt to share an achievement on Facebook - Tropico 4 sends it to my Facebook and then the game locks, goes to not responding and I have to kill it in the task manager.

My roommate has the same issue - on a computer with different specs. I'm running Windows 7 Home Prem - 64Bit.

Edit: For clarity, yes the picture makes it to Facebook - but Tropico says it doesn't...and then it locks.

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.0 only!)
Hi!

I am currently playing Tropico 4 version 1.0, yet a very peculiar bug happens. My chosen resolution is 5040x1050, in other words 3 monitors each displaying 1680x1050. Although the resolution can be chosen and the FOV is at it should be, if I switch to this resolution at the main menu and try to begin the tutorial or campaign the game crashes. If however I am at a lower resolution, say 1680x1050 or lower (which means playing the game in only one screen) the game runs with no problems whatsoever.

Yet oddly enough, if I start the tutorial and campaign at a resolution of 1680x1050 or lower and change to a resolution in the main game feature (not the main menu) to 5040x1050 the get runs fine. However after 5 years of play or so when the game momentarily changes to a loading screen, if I have a resolution of 5040x1050 the game crushes.

My OS is Windows 7 64-bit ultimate, and my graphics card nVidia GTX 295 with the latest drivers.

Thanks

You somehow answered your own question. Tropico do not like that high resolutions. Not everyone are millionaire and have 3 screens. It probably where not the primary concern of the decelopers to support 3 screens.

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.0 only!)
A couple of things I noticed when playing last night:
1. In the default hotkey list in the options menu, both House and Hotel are listed as "H". (House is correct)
2. When you use a hotkey to place a building with variants, such as an apartment or farm. the brackets [ ] don't work for changing the appearance of the building.

Other than that, I'm greatly enjoying the game. Good job, Kalypso and Haemimont!

Tourist girl and tourist Boy, when using beach site, they go into the changing room, but never come out and use the beach. they just stay in there till the time runs out then leave.

Bug? missing art and code to use the facility?

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.0 only!)
Some things i feel need to be patched asap (not only bugs):

1. Challenge editor needs more brush variations
2. Challenge editor has a nasty bug when removing/adding trees & ground textures in larger amounts. It crashes to desktop or corrupts the custom islands .hpk file, rendering hours of work useless.
3. Bridges should be added, this would make for way more interesting map designs.
4. Larger roads.
5. The resource stacks at the market for example need to be cut in half, it towers way to high.
6. LOD system is way to aggressive.
7. The pixelated overlay when some objects become distant just has to go, when bushes and trees turn in to small dots it just looks terrible. Also the scaffolding has this effect at extremely close view ranges.
8. Please give us the option to use the textures at full capacity not just when you are half a meter away from the object.
9. Make the concrete/paved/stoned ground when some of the buildings are placed snap to each other (like the apartments) there is often an irritating string of grass texture between the housing grounds etc and it looks ugly. Maybe add the possibility to paint those kind of textures manually.
10. A visible grid system would be nice to have when placing roads, and also maybe a less automated road placing system, can be quite some pain to get the roads the way you want em.

That's all i can think of now.

No1. - Fix the challenge editor.

I agree - from my own experience, the challenge editor is not actually finished. Like many, I cannot access the objectives and parameters (?) buttons, so I can't set any of the parameters on my custom island. Also, we need to be able to add ground textures and objext seperately - it's very unintuitve right now

Bought the steam version today and I have a major gamebreaking problem.

The camera autorotate left, fast. I have deleted local files and reinstalled, no go.

There is nothing wrong with my mouse / keyboard in other games, so thats not it.

This sound simular to my problem, however my auto rotate happen no matter what zoom level I'm at. And this post is about another kalypso game. But maybe they use the same core game engine

grade schools..

Students start gaining skill as teacher,, (this happens in mission 4? the one where you have to use only imports to make things)

Later in the mission it gives you some option to increase brain power with a blimp.. after a bit of time all grade school students will become exceptional intelligence, AND learn a random skill.

they never gain experiance as a teacher though, just get the skill meter to show up.

(i had my school set to spelling bee, and all of this was happening with in a few years of going to school)

@Spookyashell: Are you 100% sure that there is nothing odd going on with your mouse driver or is there a game controller connected to your PC? If you don't have a game controller connected, try reverting your mouse driver to the very basic one that comes with your Windows version. I suspect that some third-party software may be overwriting your mouse functions.

Question RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.0 only!)
Sort of like not knowing what your "firewall" does, and having all sorts of third-party software running.

Yes, those big brute PCs just do all kinds of things whilst running a game.

I am kinda shocked that the maps are starting to repeat themselves on the missions. You couldn't make 20 different maps? Kinda lame. Next time call me up and I will make you some. Or hold a contest and get the players to make them for you.

More Bugs.

1) The unemployed counter seems to be correct but the open jobs counter never seems to be correct. On several occations I have checked every business and counted and the numbers are not even close.

2) Several times I have been changing the immigration office from open door to skilled worker etc and it will tell me 9 skilled workers have arrived and nobody shows up.

3) The edict to increase export prices by 20% doesn't seem to do anything. I will have to double check but the last few times I did it I got no message in the top of the screen and when I checked the numbers they seemed the same.

Thanks,
T

Two Bugs:

If you place the luxury liner in the path the tourist boat usually goes then the tourist boat goes right through it.

Also, I added a dock on another part of my island that wasn't connected by road yet and did a Quick Build. When a ship arrived, it brought immigrants and they walked right THROUGH the mountain to get to the city.

And a Comment...

I also agree with the above poster that the maps should be different in the campaigns and not repeated. Overall, AWESOME GAME and great job, devs.

The arch bug is ruining my game on mission 5. How do I get around this problem? Is the developers aware of this bug? When will the next patch arrive? How did you guys manage to complete mission 5?

Thanks!

I am not sure why the arch bug is ruining your fifth mission? I don't remember dealing with the arch on that mission, so only way to answer your questions is:
How do I get around this problem: Do you have to get around it?
Are developers aware of this bug: Yes
When will the next patch arrive: When it is ready
How did you guys manage to complete mission 5: Easy: By doing all tasks and get creative :-) There are no impossible missions on T4, and bugs do not make completing the game impossible.

If i remember well I even actually built a small town behind the arch with its port and etc. Its too bad a handful of workers decided to go and live on the other side walking back and forth for months instead of living in the houses I had right next to their jobs.

@Timo.
Problem located between the keyboard and chair Smile
Turns out I had a USB X360 controller connected, it was upside down in a shelf. When I flipped that over problem was solved.
Tried 2 other games to test, but no spinning in them as the X360 controller wasn't set active in them.

Anyway, problem solved. Thanks for your reply.

Ranch Buildings - for Goats & Llamas - are incorrectly displaying the Cattle addon. For Cattle it's a SMOKE HOUSE - I assume that Goats should have a "Goat's Cheese" addon (that's what the Chinese want) - for Llamas (knitware?).

Not a bug, goats only produce goat cheese, and llamas only produce wool. Only the cattle ranch is upgradable - if you buy the smokehouse for goats or llamas, you're wasting your money.

The bug is the incorrect display of the option to buy or addon a SMOKE HOUSE - when it should not be available for Goat or Llama ranches.

And to be pedantic I'm suprised that "Goat Ranches" do not offer Goat Meat - Curried Goat a Cariddean favorite !
