Emperor Augustus created the Praetorian Guard at around 27 B.C to serve as his body guards. In Grand Ages, you can train a PG way before that, so being able to do that isn't accurate at all...

Indeed You can build them in the first scenario. This is because they didn't put any restrictions on technologies in the scenarios in general.

Yes it is, very very cute -- but why don't you give us the whole picture? ??? I want a wider and better view!

It is not technology, the time-line, "training", or such stuff.

Is the Emperor himself in the game with his guard with him? If there is an Emperor from Rome in the scenario, then the "Praetorians" are not really misfits.

Cool

The Praetorian Guard should have replaced with Principes, which would fit better historically than the PG.

Actually the Hastati and Triarii did not exist during the timeframe of Grand Ages. Those were during the days when only men with property could join the army(as they had to supply their own equipment). Hastati were younger, poorer men, and the Triarii were the best troops of the line. However, Rome's constant wars ended up shrinking the landed classes, so fewer and fewer men were available for conscription. Gaius Marius is credited with reforming the Roman army by eliminating the property requirment, and issuing weapons and armor. The game hastati resemble early legionnaries that Julius Caesar would have used. The game triarii seem to be based on legionnaries 1st to 3rd century AD.
