500% gross, yes. Booze baron + distillery is 1000%; 400% and 900% net. You obviously don't know enough about the game to be commenting it seems.

You know what 1000% means, right? It means 10x. It means that if you spend 1050 for sugar, you'd have to sell it at 10500. You don't. You sell it at 3900 (spiced), or 7800 (with booze baron). So that's about 7.5x. But wait, you haven't paid your employees (the rum factory holds more employees than the others, as I'm sure you know). Plus, there's upkeep - not cheap. And you had to buy the factory itself (18000), and pay 15000 for the spiced rum upgrade, plus put all the workers through high school... basically, you're not getting anywhere near 1000%, or even the 900% you're talking about.

Careful about slinging the mud around - nobody was turning this personal until your little jab, buddy.

You called me a liar and I called your bluff. customs = 20% bonus on exports, entrepreneur is another 10%, and ad campaign is another 20-30%, I forget which.

Ready to eat some crow?

RE: Multipledocks + booze baron = broken
I'm having a lot of fun with the rum factories and imports. I agree with Whatever that it's extremely easy to do. I'm using the same method. With the starting funds I build the rum factory, blow a nuke, build the custom house, buy a highschool, then build a farm. After that it's cruise control. I think we all agree the game should be a little more complicated than that. I'm not sure why the nuclear edict was moved to general but that's a simple fix.

I like to hire a ton of high schoolers when the first shipment pays. Then build a second rum factory and more docks. I put them all on unlimited. Sweet money.

Nobody called you a liar. Read the posts again. And grow up.

So now you're using a maxed out entrepreneur/booze baron, and you've got every single possible bonus tuned on... you put every advantage on your side, and you're surprised you're making a huge profit? What did you expect - that you'd barely squeak by? That's all my original comment was - it's not broken. It works as intended.

The devs probably didn't intend that you'd nuke your own island, basically make your citizens work as slaves, and go deep in the red just to set up your super money-making machine at the beginning of a game. I'll admit it, they probably didn't plan for that contingency. Probably because anyone doing that would be ruining their own play experience, so why bother?

Bottom line - if you try hard enough, it's possible to "break" almost any game, or find exploits. But why would you want to?

RE: Multipledocks + booze baron = broken
I should add that this simplified example/guide didn't even involve more complicated strategies that make multiple docks even more overpowered. For instance, you can build your factories in such a way they all export on only 1 dock, yet they import on 3-4 +. You may ask "why is that important". Cause I can use a customs office to jack up exports when a freighter is coming into my single export dock, and then change the custom office to make cheaper imports afterwards. So I have a good bit on the imports, as well as the exports.

Docks importing was a fantastic idea, I think, but the multiple dock timer/deliveries simply breaks the system.

yea... there definatly needs to be some balance tweaking on imports...... But like always, if you find a way to break a game, Just dont do it..

If you really want to ruin your night by taking advantage of easy mode in a single player game, well you can change that by not doing it.

just remember that there are settings that make this game really easy... and settings that make the game hard.. Its really up to you to pick which you wanna use..

If the game is way to easy, Pick some settings that make it harder. (though if you pick all the hard ones and its still to easy) Which i often find the case these days. I wish they had more settings to make things harder.

honestly, running an island where you own the industry Has to be easy by definition. it is outside factors that make it complicated. building a successful economy has never been an issue in tropico. building one that keeps your people happy, doesnt have terrible traffic problems, makes money on industry *and Tourism <hardest>... the game can be easy and hard.

i ran an island bootstrapping with tourism cash to one dock with one of every industry. zero raw material construction. farms for food only. my most fun playing tropico ever. thanks for an entertaining game.

Exactly the whole point of these options being in the game is that the player can play however they like.
