Here are two bugs that I came across:

1) The Colonial Museum is still listed in the Hotekey menu, though its not buildable.

[Image: a3ec9241b9147bdbeece57347aaef51914af49e5...71c36g.jpg]

2) On Isla Oscura, the player can't place a road leading to the western salt mine and bauxite mine. Its also good place for growing surgar, papya, and pinapple. This prevents the player from acessing those resources. This affects the two campaign missions that use this map as well.

If thats the case its broken becuase pressing the hotkey with a colonial fort selected (or not selected), doesn't upgrade it and also there is no upgrade hotkey for the Dungeon upgrade either.

Tooltips are still only for english keyboard layout. "Press [ and ] to cycle buildings" and those keys are Å and ^ on scandinavian layout.

Even if you remove the keyboard shortcut to build an apartment block (that is, I open my options menu and go to the "Hotkeys" tab and verify that apartment block is bound to "none"), pressing A still functions as a shortcut to build an apartment block.

Same thing for T (tenement) and F (farm). For whatever reason it seems like these three hotkeys are unable to be disabled.

I play with the mouse and will occasionally try to pan around my city using AWSD (habit from other builder games), and it can be somewhat annoying to have an apartment block pop up.

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.03 only!)
Somebody mentioned something important in another thread and I thought it would be a good idea to repeat it here:

When you have a game saved pre-1.03, and you load it into a patched 1.03 installation, the game is running with a mixture of old and new code. If you see a bug that is supposed to have been fixed in such a scenario, please try to reproduce it after starting a fresh mission in 1.03 before reporting it!

Thank you!

"Penultimo has lost the blueprints" keeps happening in games.

I think I've narrowed this down to having too many buildings placed, but not built (i.e. the "in building" phase). Not sure how many unbuilt buildings I have, but it happens when I have a ridiculous economy, so it's upwards of 10 Smile

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.03 only!)
I have had 4 occasions during the last 24 hours in which in-game sound stopped working (and numerous isolated occasions over the past 2 weeks).

When the error occurs, I first notice that advisers/petitioners fail to read the first paragraph of their speech--voice-overs stop. Simultaneously, ambient noises cut out, i.e. when I zoom to street-level I do not hear traffic, nor a voice-clip when I click on a citizen.

Interestingly, the music track I am on will continue to play to its end, at which point music stops as well.

I have not found an in-game solution to this problem--only a reboot of Tropico 4, which is inconvenient. Unfortunately, I have not found any identifiable cause as to what triggers the sound error--it does not seem to follow any pattern I recognize. I have experienced this error both with version 1.0 as well as 1.03.

I am not sure what you mean by that. If you receive this message it means that the building is not available in the mission or challenge.

I was in sandbox. It's 50 scaffolds that cause it, just confirmed it in one of the datafiles.

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.03 only!)
I came across this bug while playing last night: all my builders disappeared.

I was playing the Perestroika map, had 500+ population, 1.5M in the treasury, 65% approval, and things were generally humming right along. I had 2 construction offices built, both fully staffed.

I had just set an army base to be constructed, the first set of builders arrived, built the base to 95%. The next builders were assigned, but never arrived. Clicking on the base, which usually shows the arrows above the workers on the map, showed nothing.

Figuring the game was glitching, I fired those two builders to let the game hire two different builders. Which it did. Two more builders were assigned to finish the army base, but again they never arrived. Gone. Just like the first pair. They showed up as assigned to the building project, showed up as employed at the construction office. Clicking on their picture to bring up their info showed their needs bars were still moving (downward since wherever they were they couldn't satisfy any needs).

Eventually I quick built the army base to finish it.

From there things got really weird. I queued up several building projects and noticed that a builder or two would show up, finish their shift, then disappear. Eventually I lost 2 construction offices worth of builders. Builders would get assigned to new projects but never arrive or even show up on the map. They would stay assigned indefinitely.

I finished the map by quick building all new buildings.

This sounds like a nice ghost story actually Smile. You should have trtied to build a construction office next to a random building to see if they would disappear then too. Still its a nice story XD

Adding the air conditioning upgrade to Apartments doesn't seem to affect the housing quality at all. It works as advertised for Tenements, just not Apartments.

RE: Tropico 4 - Bug Reports Thread (Version 1.03 only!)
In the "Bickering Factions" mission of the campaign, I issued the "Silence the Rebels" edict, which is supposed to lower the respect of the intellectual faction.

However, "Silence the Rebels" shows up on the list of intellectual faction modifiers as a positive modifier instead of a negative one. By which I mean the text is in green instead of red and has a + in front of it instead of a -

However, my approval with the intellectuals does seem to have decreased (it was 100 before issuing the edict and now it's 85) so it's possible that this is a case where the effect is working as intended but there is a display bug.

Screenshot available upon request.

Could you please split the error message from Penultimo losing the blueprints to maybe "You have 50 unfinished buildings, and Penultimo can't keep up! You will need to build at least one before you may request another!" and having the standard "not enabled" error remain the same?

I don't mind, particularly, and I'm sure it's not a common bug, but it's worth mentioning that it's highly confusing and worrying.

Unfortunately, inserting a new text message in the game is harder than actually fixing a bug (due to the need to contact the translators for seven languages) - we had to reuse an existing message to avoid delaying the patch even more..

Not a problem; just throwing it out there for the future. I'm sure it's a fairly uncommon issue, but I freaked out when I loaded an old save after the patch and it told me penultimo lost all the blueprints.

My game now freezes when I play and the only way to shut it down is to go through the task manager. Then it loads up in safe mode and I dont remember the default visuals so it never looks the same. However I get to play for about 5 min and it freezes again. It was working just fine before the update. Any ideas? Anyone know the default visual settings? Thank you.

I found a bug with building roads.

If two parallel roads are really close together*, you can build a road perpendicular to one of them that will build over the other. Essentially, it layers two roads without connecting them. And yes, they will both be completely functional and separate.

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/5549/...500002.jpg
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/2917/2011091500005.jpg
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7226/2011091500008.jpg

I only tested this in the 19th campaign mission, but I don't see why it would be limited to just that island. I can check it on other islands.
((EDIT: Yea, works on other maps too, but that was a kind of "no shit" type of thing.))

*The only way you can get the roads close enough is if something forces the road to bend towards the other road, whether it's a building or natural obstacle, or if it's bending to connect to some other road. This is because there is a certain distance in which you can't build roads near corners/intersections. You pretty much have to build a road at the closest distance possible and have it bend closer.

I think this is the overlapping bug that was supposedly fixed as of 1.03 but like it was mentioned by someone, now its actually easier to achieve.

The task taken from the intellectuals, where they ask you to increase liberty to 80 has a bug. Instead of having to increase liberty, one has to increase total happieness to 80 :o

This is probably an oversight versus a bug but in the Challenge Editor there is no options to disable the Rebuild feature. It's an important element in the Challenge I'm creating right now which involves a building being destroyed then "removed" from the game (i.e. disabled, which I've done, etc.). Only problem is that it gives the Rebuild icon after its destruction, forcing me to look for some long and creative workarounds.

So if you can add a Rebuild disable feature to the Challenge Editor, it would be much appreciated.

On the map "The Olimpic heist" the mission becomes un-completable, because the task "Hold Pan-Caribbean Games." does not check if the edict was already active. I just issued it a minute before the task came up. And since it can be only issued once, I'm stuck. The other mission tasks don't appear (probably blocked by this one).

Also I noticed that the immigration policy "love it or leave it" allows immigration, which seems counter-intuitive to me. I want to get rid of the excess population, I don't need more jobless hobos.

I seem to have a problem with installing the update via my Kalypso launcher (retail version of the game). Once downloaded, the launcher crashes with error:

NSIS Error

Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.

More information at:

Haven't properly started a game yet, but it seems to work if I opt not to download the patch. Any idea on how to get the patch down and installed?

Check out this link it gives a number of reasons has to why you may get the this error and the possible fixes.

items 3 / 4 / 7 are not going to help and at item 10. I would try completely uninstalling the game and then running CHKDSK before reinstalling it - in case the you have a corrupt game file already installed.

The statues that look like your Presidente appear to have clipping issues, as seen here where I built a ton of them practically inside of each other...

Devs - it should be noted that many users of version 1.0 reported this same problem.
