D3 Resurrection. WTF is up?
Anyone know WTF is going on with the Resurrection release date? Up until last night, Steam had the release date set as Oct 7th. I log onto Steam today, expecting to be able to download the game, and now the release date has suddenly been pushed back to Oct 10. But here's the weird thing...I check with other digital game retailers, and they all have the game still available for today. I ended up buying the game from Greenmangaming.com, but I can't seem to actually download it. So I have no idea what is going on.

Weird, I thought the released date was meant to be 11. October.

I am not positive... But I think that the game was (at least on Steam) offered at a discount to those that owned D3. I saw the same as you (but did not pay close enough attention to it). I also logged in the next day only to find that it was slated for the 10th instead.

Perhaps it was the pre-order for d3 owners? And the finial unlock (at a different price) on the 10th.

There was a promo for people who previously bought Renaissance from Steam, yes, but that had nothing to do with them delaying the release. It's still not available on Steam for another 9 hours, although other vendors have been selling it since the 7th. It's very odd.

I can't remember where I read it, but on one site someone was saying that Kalypso screwed up the distribution of activation codes, and there weren't enough to go around, hence why some vendors had to delay the sale of the game. Not sure if that's true or not, but...after the release fiasco of Renaissance, I wouldn't be surprised.

BTW, I would advise people thinking of picking up the game to avoid Green Man Gaming. They are selling Resurrection for $16.95US, which is the cheapest I have found on any site. I bought the game from them, but for 3 days now and counting, I have been unable to actually download the game. Either there is something wrong with the game file they have up, or they are selling the game before putting it up on their servers (without telling customers). I've requested a refund from them, but no idea if I will actually get it, since their customer support is severely lacking.

I ended up buying the game from Direct2Drive.com. They had it up for a pricier $29.95, but I bit the bullet and bought it. Download started immediately and was super fast without a hitch.

RE: D3 Resurrection. WTF is up?
It seems that the weirdness has happened again... for now Steam lists D3 as not available for another 22 hours (Central US time).

It lists it as unlocking on the 11th now. Also I'm pretty sure that the price has changed twice in the last several hours. List price is $29.99, but has been both 15% and 33% off within the last day or so. Currently (2:44PM Central), I see the price as $20.09; unlocking sometime tomorrow.

Yeah, Steam has pissed off quite a few people with their handling, or should I say mishandling, of the release date for D3:R. The D3 forums on Steam are full of anti-Steam rants. They have changed the release date twice, the price several times, and they have provided no explanation for any of their actions.

Pretty shoddy customer service, if you ask me.

there seems to be some technical problems with the version at steam, akella - the developer - is trying to fix it asap.

As Walt said, we are working overtime to fix all the quirks remaining in the Steam version, please note we will have Steam exclusive achievements for Resurrection. As of now, we are on track for a release later today/tonight, fingers crossed. Thanks for your support and patience!

Cool. Thanks for the info guys. Smile

With the potential for a third delay and no explanation from Steam, I was starting to get a little worried.

If the game is being held up because of stupid badges that are worthless in the game then that is the poorest excuse for a delay ever. Its just a gold star for some stupid achievement, if it actually unlocked stuff in the game, ok I could understand.

I also want to note that the game isn't really all that in depth, sure it has pretty art but another failure at release coupled with minor updates means I wont be buying #4 and I'm already asking Steam for a refund since the developer nor them can at a minimum communicate to the people that bought it what's going on and this isn't the first time the release got loused up.

Thank you for the update.

**Any chance we can get the map editor this time? (like in the Steam tools; or a legacy serial number for the map editor, and public download?)

Maybe it's the problem with the game being unplayable, because the campaign stucks in Chapter I while talking with the mage hunter.

Referring to google, only the steam version doesn't work correctly. Kalypso, please patch as soon as possible Sad

Thanks for the report, we are looking into this.

UPDATE: It's a known issue that we hope the developers can fix in an upcoming patch, but it's not 100% reproducible. It seems to be a rare trigger timing issue, most of the times the event triggers fine, so you should be good with restarting the mission. The same applies to the retail version.

Hm... seems like the Empire-AI crushes the "inquisitor" party in the village.
This group is needed for the trigger to complete?

Problem is: Your first quest is to go to the village where a cutscene is triggered. There one of the npcs flees and the hunter attacks you. That's how it should work.

In some cases the game triggers the afterwards following quest, where you shall visit some necromancer, before you even visited the village. In that case you arrive in the village, the cutscene starts (in which the npcs still flees) but the hunter isn't there anymore to attack you. Result: You get stuck in that cutscene.

This bug we already reported to Akella some days ago and the guys are working on that.

Or do you encounter some other problem? Could you give more details on what happens?

RE: D3 Resurrection. WTF is up?
It's exactly the problem you described. I guess I solved it myself. Heading straight to the village without exploring the area seems to work (was my 3rd try).
Seems if I wait to long, the next quest is triggered. Don't know if the inquisitor fighting party "disappears" with triggering the necromancer quest, but to me it seems that an Empire army killed the "inquisitor-army" inside the village (they attacked me 2 turns later), so the village quest can not be completed. Just sharing my experience, maybe it helps Smile

RE: D3 Resurrection. WTF is up?
So as I understand it the English version of the game has a major bug that prevents you from progressing very far in the first chapter?!

Is this correct? Sad

I really wanted to get this game but if this is the case then no way!
How could a game pass QA with such a serious glitch?

Do we have any official response from the developers about how soon this will be fixed?

The developers are aware of the problem and are currently working on a fix. How long this will take, we cannot say exactly, but it should be done soon. We will keep you updated.

Beside of that, the game can be played to the end (I did it myself already) because this bug doesn't seem to appear always. Sorry for not having better news at the moment.

RE: D3 Resurrection. WTF is up?
Hi guys,

as said before, the developers are working on a fix for that problem and may have it ready now. Problem is: They need a savegame to try if their patch resolves the bug. Now we tried to reproduce the bug, but unfortunately the game runs without errors at our machines. Does anybody of you perhaps have a savegame just before the game gets stuck in the village?

If yes, please send it here:
sebastian.weber@kalypsomedia.com

Many thanks
Sebastian

I have attached my save game with the described issue. Some of us are turtles, and like to build up before we go out and conquer. As reference, you really should playtest for that type of player.

I suggest creating a thread in which players could post bugs and issues encountered in DIII: Resurrection, as it has been done with Renaissance.

Good suggestion, I hope it eventuates. Smile

However if you read this thread you will see that this particular bug has been officially reckonised by the developers and KalypsoSebastian knows about it.
He was also the one who loesr sent the bugged save file to.

I feel KalypsoSebastian will reply to this thread once he knows the bug has been corrected, hence the reason why I was asking in this thread.

I hope that bug will be fixed as soon as possible. Sebastian seems a good guy. He shows some interest, unlike others Smile
Since users open new thread for each bug they found, I think it could be more practical collecting these reports in a single one.
I can do that. Or will they bann me for my insolence? Big Grin
