Airline Tycoon 2 crashes on startup. I start the game, but before the intro video, the screen turns white, and a window pops up, saying that Airline Tycoon 2 has crashed. I am using a Dell XPS 410 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Now what am I supposed to do?

I'm struggling to update the game. I install the 400+ MB update through Kalypso's loader, it then tells me I don't have the game installed and need to install it first. The best that Kalypso support could tell me is "reinstall the game." Given that I've just burned 800 MB in downloads downloading the update (which btw seems to not be able to be accessable locally on my computer), I don't want to do that.

I downloaded the game from Steam. Any suggestions?

Hi Cobbdogg,

You shouldn't need to manually patch the game, as the Steam version is patched separately through Steam itself. Try launching the game without trying to apply the patch, and your version on the bottom right of the Kalypso Launcher Login screen should read "Airline Tycoon 2 1.2.6" directly under the "Continue" button (before you actually log in.) That's the version mine now shows (Steam version as well). Good luck, and hope this helps.

I have the following bug and it seems to be consistent: Using the "o" key to skip ahead multiple days at once causes all repeated routes to scramble.

1 - Set up one route using the route repeating feature. For example, make a simple short route between two nearby airports that in one day goes from airport A to B to A and then lets the crew rest overnight while maintenance is done, then on the second day make it go from B to A to B and let the crew rest during maintenance overnight. (So in 2 days time it has gone round-trip three times, and been maintained twice, and the crew had plenty of rest time.)
2 - Click the route repeater button so the route will do this two day pattern over and over.
3 - Now pass the time by ending the day with hotkey "o", and click through the airport manager meeting the next morning.
4 - Check the routes with "m" - notice the route is still fine and everything looks correct.
5 - Now try again but this time skip a few days in a row by using hotkey "o" and then while it's loading the airport manager meeting screen, you can use hotkey "o" again and then use hotkey "o" again. It aborts the airport manager meeting and just skips another day and another day. BUT something got messed up by doing this. Now when you hit "m" to check the route the schedule has been completely changed. All the rest time is gone. The routes have been connected together end-to-end without any rest time, and the maintenance times have been moved around as well. If you didn't stop to look and notice that the game altered the schedule without telling you, and had continued skipping days to let the time pass, your airline would have destroyed itself with this secretly changed schedule.

Because this does NOT happen when merely skipping one day at a time and clicking through the boring airport manager meeting each time, I think it's a bug caused by skipping ahead while the program was still trying to calculate what happened during the previous skipped day.

Because the money in the game is very tight at the beginning, the ability to skip ahead quickly in the beginning of the game is important. You don't have enough money to actually do anything else after you hire a crew, buy an airplane, outfit the interior of the airplane, and set up your first route. You have to wait a lot of days before you have enough money to buy your second airplane. So when the mechanism to let the first days pass quickly by has a bug that will ruin your airline if you try to use it too much that makes the early part of the game too boring to bother playing it.

I will be asking Steam for a refund. This is a fun-killing bug.

I have found a crash, that I can reproduce from the saved game. I am playing a sandbox game where I have gotten 99% and 100% of the shares for 2 of the competing airlines. However, if I get rid of either one (either by selling all of their stuff, or merging everything) the game will crash within the next 5 minutes, or if I end the day. I have also checked that the save plays fine if you don't liquidate the company's.

I have the latest steam version of the game.

Yea, I just need to know where the save files are stored & I can e-mail that to you right away. I can't seem to find it in the game folder. I'm running the steam version on win 7.

Hi,

I recently bought ATC2 and the Falcon Lines DLC. I downloaded the DLC and when I went to start a campaign it won't let me choose Falcon Lines. When you click past Calibri Lines the profile of Calibri line stays, but her image disapears.

No matter what I try you can't get Falcon lines although I have paid for it!

New install on Win7 64bit via steam. Error early on in loading
FILE:"Source\Language.cpp,LINE:529,COMMENT: "Failed to create process 'fxc'" then after clicking OK continues on to the end of the load screen, where it closes and nothing else happens.

Error occurs even without any antivirus or firewalls turned on, even after rebooting.
Tried uninstall and reinstall. Still fails

bought a whole bunch of kalypso games on special, and this is the second one I try. Kalypso's batting average is now 2 for 2 (2/2). both games crash on startup on windows 7 and both games show windows 7 as supported. I have over 200 games on steam that run very well regardless of age, and this is becoming a pattern with Kalypso to the point that I will be weary of purchasing a game if I see kalypso anywhere in the description.

I see people have been reporting the issue since March and 5 months later, no patch, no solutions, instead the patch log shows cosmetic fixes!

I can't even try to use different steam switches to troubleshoot because kalypso launches the game from it's own launcher! Simply very poor design for a steam platform game.

Not gonna bother giving details since I see no one bothered answering all the other poor sods who lost their money on this one

I'm having the exact same problem. When I liquidate an opponent's airline the game crashes within a minute no matter what I do. Any fix yet?

Well that's jolly nice of them. My save folder is right in the game folder. Do a search for airline tycoon 2 save and windows should find it for you.

Is there anyway to see when i save the game in the game?? saved games are only in alphabetical order

Just discovered exact same issue. Playing on hard level, liquidated a company and bang, crash.

After reading this, about to try non-liquidation.

POST EDIT: Tried taking all the companies planes/staff instead of liquidation and the game still crashed. Might let him live and sell my shares quickly

POST POST EDIT: Its is not the liquidation causing it.

I sold off the shares in 1 foul swoop. Crash.
I reloaded and started selling 10% at a time. Got to 23%. At the same time, he was selling his shares at 2% one day and 1% next day. When he had 2% left and obviously tried selling the 2%, game crashed.

Other factors. Have Honey and Falcon DLC but it was Mogabe that crashed. Difficulty was "hard". Never had a crash on easy or normal even with players going bankrupt although never got to "create" the bankruptcies on those levels.

Whenever i try to start the game i receive the error msg "PathManager error" has this happend to any on else??

I have one question and maybe somebody had this problem also and solved it.
When you start the game and you get to the first loading screen.
My game freezes *not responding* after it loads and all I can see is the plane with the loading bar under it. nothing else happens.

Hello, I've bought today a game with Falcon DLC. I'm in second mission and it starts from call from Rick he tells me to come in front of my office to talk with him but when i try to click on rick or go arround him nothing happens.

i have just downloaded falcon airlines dlc and it isnt working. it has just gave me an extra 'blank' character slot where the character isnt there and the description is Natalie Childman's airline. Please Help many thanks

Have a problem related to DPI.

When DPI is not 100%, the font size in game increases, but the panel contains the text does not.
This causes some text to be truncated.
Setting DPI back to 100% is not an option if you're using a large screen with very small dot pitch.
(I'm using a 27" monitor, with 2560x1440 resolution.)

Although I know you may consider this (respect the DPI setting) a minor problem.
But please fix it if you can, thanks in advance!
