Savegames
In Grand Ages: Rome, you decided to use the C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Grand Ages Rome directory to store saved games. However, this directory will be deleted on game uninstalling, as well as OS formatting. AFAIK, it can't be moved to another disk.

The "My Documents" folder, on the other hand, can be moved easily and most users simply put it on another disk (say: D:\documents\), thus when formatting one simply needs to point the new My Documents to D:\documents\ and all personal files are instantly there, accessible for all software to use. There's a "My Games" directory in this folder, into which many developers actually store the saves (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Demigod, Titan Quest, Fable, King's Bounty, to name a few). Others simply add a directory in My Documents (ex: GTA series, NFS series, Dungeon Siege, The Witcher, etc.).

For the screenshots, although it's less important, GA:R has the same problem: they're in C:\Users\[user name]\Pictures\Grand Ages Rome\. I don't know what happens upon uninstallation of the game, but format and all is lost. My Documents\My Pictures\ would be a better choice.

What are your plans for T3? Please consider using My Docyments\Tropico 3 or better: My Documents\My Games\Tropico 3 for the savegames.
And please, if you opt for this permanent storage, don't delete the savegames upon uninstallation, or at least ask the player during the process to confirm s/he wants them deleted (defaulting to: keep all saves/configuration).

I've lost all my GA:R saves because of this a few weeks ago, and don't want to go through it again with Tropico 3.

RE: Savegames
We are required to use some of these folders as part of the game being under the Games for Windows tag. Tropico will have a different system for saved games where you can actually name your saves. What you describe is a really unfortunate situation and I will relay your experience to the people making the save games for Tropico 3.

Thanks Lyubo. Actually, Fallout 3 is also a GFW game (even GFW Live! actually), and so are GTA, Demigod, the Witcher etc. All of those store the savegames/config/screenshots somewhere in My Documents, hope you'll have the right to do the same.

Question RE: Savegames

That's good.

T1 unfortunately did not have a utility for deleting saved games. So in order to weed-out unwanted saves, one had to go to the folder to delete them. That was not a comfortable thing for quite a number of players. I hope that could be fixed.

Cool
