Exclamation Problems with the game, please help me.
Please help me solve the problem. My game crashes when I put a fast mode (speed play). In what may be the problem?

Your CPU may be causing the issue when it tries to throttle -- its base state doesn't meet the requirements (it's 1.5 scaling up to 2.4).

EDIT: Do you have a crash log? Look in %APPDATA%\Tropico 4
Then look either logs or crashes to find the latest, and paste it between [code] and [/code]

It starts at 1.5GHz, base, and then scales up. It's like an i3 that "bursts" to 2.0 or more, and it may have problems because there's a base need.

When the speed increases the demand increases, and if it can't scale immediately you'll hit a wall.

I had some time to look around at what the 6740G2 is and found it's actually part of the APU+GPU configuration AMD are pushing. Interesting tech, but it highlights you're on a laptop, and this is particularly relevant to your "card":

Tropico, as far as I know, isn't DirectX 10. Even if it is running at that level for whatever reason:

Your APU is running the game, not the more powerful of the "Hybrid" cards in setup.

I'm still stuck with the notion that even if your graphics card is holding up (which I doubt due to the DirectX 11 support of the card, and the current lack of backwards compatibility), your CPU is not powerful, though it performs reasonably for its price.

What I would do at this point is:
  • Edit the post above and put [code] tags around it, it's huge and [code] allows us to scroll it!
  • Check your configuration to make sure that "Hybrid" is working, as the crossfire mode may by the issue;
  • Start a new game and see if the fastest speed crashes it at the beginning.

What I suspect you'll find is that the fastest mode will crash it at the beginning as either:
  • the leap up from the 1.5GHz stock that your laptop runs at to the 2GHz required to run it will likely cause some sort of CPU issue (my guess would be a thread deadlock) OR
  • the GPU's underperformance is causing issues in the render loop causing the main thread issues.

Now, while I could be wrong about those things, comparing part of your log to others:

You're getting some pretty serious load times there for a powerful CPU -- I don't think you're running at full power.

You could also check that Windows is running at "High Performance" mode, though I'm not sure of what difference that will make -- you should be beating Keynotworking in those load times if you're running at a reasonable level of power. (Note: you need to load a map for it to log the load of the Granny binary packages.)

I think this ultimately comes down to this particular notebook not being suited for gaming needs with its weird and seemingly not very powerful on-chip graphics solution which may cause issues with the game as we can typically guarantee full compatibility with dedicated GPUs only, as stated in the minimum hardware requirements for Tropico 4. Sometimes compatibility issues like these can be fixed with a driver update, so your best bet would be to see if there's a newer driver for your chipset available from the notebook's manufacturer.

Additionally, you may want to send a DxDiag report (see customer support section of your game manual) to support@kalypsomedia.com for further investigation.
