Kalypso Games via Onlive
#1
Beautiful as usual, Kalypso Games work damn fine through this cloud system.
I see a lotta people playing Kalypso Games (all of the ones included in the pack) and having fun, so I decided to give it a try, even though I live in Brazil and the lag is ''annoying'', but these titles are completely playable.

I have to admit that Onlive is way better than Steam, Wiiware, Psn and Xbox Live. Click, play and have fun. Playing games on the Microconsole via hdmi cable must be awesome, I guess.
This for me is priceless nowadays, I mean, picking your game and playing is the best thing there is since gaming has turned into something pretty bureaucratic. That's why Onlive is for me definitively the future.

Cheap, affordable, works on pcs, tvs, macs, tables, iphones, androids and I can really say that this Playpack (9.99 usd a month) is the best deal in gaming ever. Period. Smile

I even made a small comparison between Darkstar One (it's strange 'cause the publisher for this pc game on Onlive is Kalypso) for you guys to check. Keep in mind that the screens barely represent the thing in real time. Even still this is damn cool, the way it should be, the way it was in the past. Easier than hooking up the tv cables and inserting cartridges short after! Smile

see ya!

Yeah, great thing.
Renting a game for 3 Years and then it is deletet from the servers. "Sorry, we know you paid 55€ for the game AND 10€ monthly but to less people are playing the game now".
The Datastream is heavily compresst too, which mostly will lead to less good graphics and sound then you could get on a good pc (with a X-Fi).
Shure you can also try the the 10€ per month and just play through the gamecatalog. But I don't think it is the future. One more channel yes. But even less people are ready to use OnLive then using Origin.

Klar ist es legal. Ob der Zugriff aus Ländern legal ist in denen Onlive nicht offiziell angeboten ist, keine Ahnung. Das Angebot an sich ist aber vollkommen legal.

Well I agree with you in some way. ''Losing'' a paid game must be pretty ugly, that's why you gotta have refunds/other legal ways to avoid it. It's the same way with the wii console: if the system dies you're screwed (and all your vc/wiiware games too).
That's nasty. Sad

But does it really happen? Can it happen with OnLive, for instance?
Anyway it's kinda sad that I can't buy these games of subscribe to the Playpack since I'm in Brazil. Just timed demos!
But it showed me that, if Onlive comes oficially to my country, I'll definitively buy/play a lotta games on my tv using the microconsole and via pc as well.

And about the functionality of the system I really have to admit that it's something damn good, quite unreal to me so far. Well it's not that I don't care that much about video quality, it's just that the games ran so smoothly and clean that I didn't notice nothing odd, same deal as playin' it on my pc. You guys can really check it on the darkstar one comparison.

Just testing Patrician IV. There's a noticeable lag since I'm in Brazil, otherwise it's fully playable with great graphics and sound quality.
And it's so cool NOT having to to install games and be constantly worried about requirements and etc.

With so many appealing Kalypso games on gog.com, dotemu and steam (and a very cool promotion this weekend on gog) I also couldn't resist and bought myself some cool games such as Creatures III and Patrician 1+2. Since I bought the Kalypso Strategy Pack sometime ago there are so many cool games to play that I don't even know where to start from! Big Grin

Keep rockin', guys!

I was wrong!
But OnLive was cool, though!
