The domes of the blue colored church makes me wonder - in South America I've didn't seen, they would build something like that, and only one other building that looks a little bit similarly I could find is a buddhist temple and it wasn't build in South America. If the blue church is a buddhist temple, it means, that there in Tropico 3 will be several religions! What do you think?

RE: About domes of the blue church
This is NOT a church. The building was modeled upon a real life reference:

RE: Buddhist temple in Tropico 3?
I don't think that the blue domed church is meant as a buddhist temple. In Europe and North America there are several churches with blue domes and roofs. wether or not they are made of painted concrete, slate, glazed tiles or other materials. I remember from a holiday in Curacao definately seeing a blue roofed church.

I believe that if they wanted to include other religions besides christianity they would make the temples look more buddhist.

On the Dutch Antilles for example there are besides churches a few synagogues and Hindu Mandirs for the worshippers on those islands. For the Dutch Antilles history(trade and commerce) is the reason for those religious groups to be there today. As was the slavetrade responsible for the black inhabitants of these islands.

But I don't believe the Dutch Antilles to be representative for the entire carribean. I think the answer is connected to the island in Tropico having a history or not. That's up to the devs. I think.

perhaps there willbe indigenious Indians on the Island. will they have there own places of worship or are they converted to the colonisers religion?

Heh... The purpose of the building is written on the building itself. Not sure if you will be able to decode the sign from the screenshots but it's there.

Yes, but none of them returned, so we had to hire an entirely new team. We only got back an unsigned postcard with a cocktail drink, saying "Ha-ha, sucker! Cheers!"

This is why the game is taking so long.

I'd say that the building on the picture is a church, but the one on the screenshot looks like it has been converted to a playful occupancy.

Not a church as it has exhaust fans same reason for a temple. Not a motel either I dont think as it appears to have a coat of arms or somthing like it above the doors, in this shot http://www.tropico3.com/en/images/2b.jpg in the bottom left corner is a what I think is a church due to the massive cross on it but the clock.

How about concert hall or something like that? There wasn't such a building in original game, but why not in upcoming? Fraction of intelligence, i think, would be glad..Smile

One more interesting thing - I noticed, there are 8 or 10 ventilators on the roof of this building. For example, similar number of them placed on the roof of block house, but on the roof of church I counted none. It should mean, if there are need for such a condition, people in this building uses to stay for long time - working a lot or living. Looking from this side, could be, the building is a monastery or some kind of organization of sisters of mercy - hospital, shelter or something like that..

Toungue A Socialist Cultural Museum
The Socialists kicked the religious out.

It is now a Museum/Cultural Attraction for Tourists (close to the motel for slobs) who will pay to look at any strange thing.

Alternatively, what El_Malo said.

Do not put words in El Presidente's mouth !

It is inhumane to leave little orphans in run-down shacks. They should be adopted by other families.

And so where is the "shelter" ?

And how do you imagine an adoptation process - a familie goes straight to the run-down shacks and choose there a kid to adopt?? I don't think so... Tongue

Did marriages ever need to take place in a church, or have the couple anywhere near each other?

Truth also.. Probably that's the question of a point of view of developers, a question of their vision of a place and function of this act of adoption in the gameplay. Now I don't know, would I even noticed this moment, if there's no shelter for thous orphans and if I wouldn't read about it. But that's my opinion...

Looks a bit like a police station to me. The towers are for prisoners to jump out of when they wish to commit suicide while escaping. In Jakarta the police building is 11 stories high, the 8th floor is very popular with escaping prisoners.

that looks like a pretty typical church to me guys, it is covered by blue tile on the exterior, which the portuguese are known for doing, along with the spanish, its a big thing in the Iberian penn. (spain/portugal) it came from the moors originally, and the portuguese/spanish brought it over with them to the 'new world'

http://www.gooporto.com/porto-sights/san...hurch.html
http://www.gooporto.com/porto-sights/cap...almas.html

thats some examples, in the game its probably a more religion neutral church (no crosses or other symbols) and as for the exhaust fans, im sure it gets hot as hell in there, we are in the Caribbean Wink

Rolleyes RE: T3 architecture
An essay on church architecture is not needed to establish that a small island in the Caribbean which started from next to nothing for population and infrastructure in 1950 would be unlikely to have faux 18th century churches -- or even structures resembling them which might be recycled churches.
