Exclamation D3 ridiculously slow mouse scroll speed
Okay the tittle says it, i tried D3 demo recently and i found this to be utter bollocks (among other things) felt like they are trying to add artificial gameplay length to it with slowing down mandatory aspects (inc. slow world map movement).

The art style is beutiful , but im not willing to buy an artbook i want a functional game, quiet disappointing after the snappy controls of Disciples 2.

Im looking for workarounds on this.Any input is apreciated.

RE: D3 ridiculously slow mouse scroll speed
If the leaders move to slow for your taste. You can mod there move speed. Always backup any files you mod to a save place first. I prefer just copying my entir resources folder to a 2nd location.

Then open a leader charactor profile file. For example: elves_leader-forestliege.char

They are loose in Disciples III\Resources\Profiles There are similar named files in subfolders, like the stats/skills folders but in this case you want the one with the .char extension

Open this file in notepad. Scroll down until you see a line like this: move_speed 4.5;

Increasing the value makes the units movement faster, both in worldmap and arena. Sometimes notepad will add a.txt extension when you save this file. Simply remove it, as the game won't read it if the extension is changed. Also I'm not able to save in the Program files where the game installs by default because of security features in WIN7. So you may need to save to my documents and then copy the file over to the original location. Since I mod so much, I just reinstalled the game on the root drive.

Some changes take effect within the same saved game, others, you need to start a new campaign for changes to apply. I'm not sure in this case if these changes require a new game. But make your 1st change more dramatic. Like if the speed was 3.0, try making it to 7.0 THat way the changes are very obvious and you get an idea of how fast 7.0 is, if it still has the same speed, then restart a new game and the changes should apply.

The world map paths are very narrow. My biggest gripe starting out, was if you click outside the path, nothing happens, and you have a very small window for paths. I just got used to it over time and after playing the maps, I can tell most paths right away.

Not sure what you mean by scrolling. Are you referring to the delays when right clicking on leaders to get party info? If so, that always seems to have a 2 second delay and I don't know of any fix for it. I don't experience any delays in actually navigating the worldmap.

RE: D3 ridiculously slow mouse scroll speed
no no,i meant when you move your cursor towards the end of your screen to scroll the view.
its very very slow and if you do that for like 5 seconds it eventually slowly accelerates. a massive pain in the ass.

what i want to achieve is to work like in D2 with a reasonable fixed scroll speed, and if thats not possible atleast speed the acceleration up to a tolerable level.

RE: D3 ridiculously slow mouse scroll speed
You can speed up the scrolling in the combat map, but I've yet to find a way to do so on the adventure map.

At first it annoyed the crap out of me too. But now I'm not bothered by it all. Maybe I've just become use to it or I've picked up on some workarounds, namely:

The further you zoom out, the faster you scroll. The speed of scrolling doesn't necessarily go up, but the land mass that moves increases, so it gives the same effect.

You'll also find that you don't really need to be doing a lot of scrolling. Things are covered for the most part in a fog of war, except for a fairly tight view radius around your leaders, rods and cities. You can use the mini map to navigate quick, and you can also warp to your leaders/rods using the panel on the right by clicking on their images.

RE: D3 ridiculously slow mouse scroll speed
That explains why I don't see it much. I tend to play way zoomed out in world map. D2 was never zoomed in as close as D3 can. Its likely delayed (or not smooth) close in simply because the game has to render more detail in the textures.

My 1st impression with the game is that the view was too top down. D2 was more from a 45 degree angle, but in D3 its like your looking dow from a helicopter. I got used to how top down it was over time.
