I am struggling with this one. Either I have enough soldiers but run out of money or have money but suffer a coup. I have tried ignoring the 20 wealthy tourists at first & concentrating on the building up my economy or I have gone for tourists first & then have other problems. Has anyone a successful strategy. I think this is the most difficult stage so far!

Your character build may be influencing you.

I think I pushed a strong tourism build and followed the prompting to an extent. The other option is to push farms (if I'm right about the map), and use the money to build up a small defence force and then push tourism.

You can make a lot of money off coffee on this map, I concentrated on building up basic services at first. Once you have a half dozen coffee farms, you'll be pulling in 8-10K every freighter. When you build a cannery you'll be raking it in with the upgrade.

I picked tourism traits, went with Pop Singer / Corporate Hotel Buyout to bump my tourist rating. There are a lot of criminals on this map (and crime safety is critical to one of your later objectives), so the Vigilante trait is also helpful.

The 20 wealthy tourists is pretty easy once you have some income, just build a couple regular hotels, a marina set to VIP, and a bank. You should get 20 fat cats within three tourist boat visits.
