Hi all,

I'm running an Amazon.com digital download version of Patrician 4 Gold. Version 2.04 (running the rise of a dynasty shortcut/exe).

Both in the main menu and inside the game I have an odd mouse issue. Essentially, the mouse cursor almost seems to experience resistance or wants to try and re-center it's posistion on its last point. Hard to explain, but, basically the mouse cursor ends up being jerky or sticky in its action. This makes the game essentially unplayable for me. Note that the mouse cursor works normally during the Patrician IV: Rise of a Dynasty "splash screen" (with the black background) while the game loads up initially.
Then, after the intro movies when the main menu appears, then it gets jerky.

This isn't a hardware issue, and, I play quite a few games from many genres and I've never seen this until now. Tested quite a few other games and apps - no problems at all. All drivers are up to date and so forth. Any ideas?

I've tried reboots, reinstalls, re-installing mouse drivers (Logitech setpoint), running the 2.0.1 version of Rise of Dynasty without patching, toggling v-sync and changing resolutions and so forth. No fix there.

Here's a curious observation, when I run the "base" game without the addon, the mouse cursor works just fine. Also, it seems amazon only gives us the 1.0 version of the base game. Is there anything mouse or input related that changed between the 1.0 version of Patrician 4 and the 2.0.4 version of Rise of a Dynasty? Anything I could alter in a config file somewhere?

Thank you for the reply. My mouse surface is okay. Again, the problem exists only within Patrician IV: Rise of a Dynasty.

Set your system DPI settings to 100% and your problem should be resolved

Thanks for the reply, Daan. Could you elaborate a bit more on that? Under display properties, my system DPI is already set to the default 96dpi - which is 100%, if I'm not mistaken.

This should be in your DxDiag, but in yours it isn't...
I've seen that you got the Logitech G5 (Besides, a very good choice ...I'm using this one too at home ) and you should install the lastest driver.

I installed the latest 6.32 Logitech setpoint mouse drivers. Didn't fix the problem, unfortunately.

Hmmm, strange...
Try this:
- Do have another mouse to compare the behavior?
- Try to run your system with another user (maybe admin; best would be default windows settings) and compare the behavior.

1.Make sure your mouse is connected directly to a USB port on your computer.

2.Update the firmware on your G5 mouse. For instructions on updating your firmware, this is firmware not software.

3. Update the report rate , open your setpoint software and click the tab on the left with the castle on it (sorry no idea what its called), then click advanced game settings you will see report rate at the bottom , ideally you want it as high as possible (100) BUT the higher the setting the more resources your software will use , basically its the number of times per second your mouse tells your cpu its position - which may cure your problem.
