This Christmas, I received a laptop computer as part of a deal with my grandparents to move Tropico IV from their computer (it's very slow for them).

However, I have bought ten dollars' worth of DLC content expansion packs; obviously, I don't want to lose these!

The questions are simple.

• How do I preserve the DLC and the Mods when I uninstall Tropico IV?
• What files do I need to remove from Program Files to preserve the same?
• Do I just drag and drop them onto the new PC to re-install them?

As far as I know, DLC is tied to the account (CD keys are input). If you use Steam, there's a different method used, and they'll redownload.

You can just copy them out to another folder, and you can just drag and drop the files from that backup to the new install.


If you're worried, make a copy of: %APPDATA%\Tropico 4
This will save your profile, saves, and, for non-Steam versions, DLC files (which should redownload anyway).

Just copy it back there when you're done (Start -> run %APPDATA%, make a new folder "Tropico 4").

For Steam versions, you can back-up the Tropico 4 DLC bits and pieces:

For x64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\tropico 4\dlc
For x86: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\tropico 4\dlc


For mods if you followed my install instructions, you'll find them in:
For x64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\tropico 4\packs\boot\persist
For x86: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\tropico 4\packs\boot\persist

Inside there, you'll find "Game.hpk" and "Shaders.hpk" which are part of the game -- the rest are mods.

As Swixel pointed out, you can always redownload DLCs tied to your Kalypso Launcher account just by logging in to the game launcher with your account. There is no need to move/backup anything besides your saved games.
