Check difficulty + veteran units
Some days ago I started playing Disciples III Renaissance and I am enjoying it quite a lot (I loved Disciples 2). However, I got two questions that I couldn´t find proper information about in the manual:

- is there some way to check difficulty (i.e. on which difficulty you are playing) during the game? I think I had selected hard difficulty, but I can´t remember quite well. How can I know that later?

- on the first mission (The Fallen Star) I had my main character, Lambert, as well as a Warrior Nun that I had levelled to Level 4. Is there some way to "bring" this character to the next level? I am currently now in the second level and it gives me the option to recruit "veteran" (next to "leader"), yet there only a level 1 warrior-Nun appears, not my level 4 - Character of the first mission.

Any kind of advice is appreciated.

RE: Check difficulty + veteran units
That's definitely strange because that's the way to bring back your veteran leaders, normally. Not sure what might have happened there. You surely have clicked on the "Veteran" button to change the view from "new leaders" to "Veterans".

Just a precaution: Veteran Leaders become increasingly expensive the higher their level so it's an absolute necessity to collect and buy a lot of runes and transferrable stuff at the end of a scenarion in order to be able to buy a veteran leader right at the beginning of the next level.

And you might want to pay attention to do all the main quest stuff with Lambert/the main hero as D3 had (not sure how it is now after some patches) the habit to nmake problems now and then when a quest was not done with the main hero.
At least keep your save games from the start of each map.

RE: Check difficulty + veteran units
Many thanks for the quick reply. I also don´t what precisely happened. I played the "end-sequence" of the first mission (the battle against Ferre) again while I had my Level 4 warrior-Nun. Starting the 2nd mission it offers me to recruit a veteran warrior nun, but it costs 500 Gold and is Level 1.

In any case I started a new "2nd" character in the 2nd mission and hope that it will be transferred properly.

And regarding the difficulty - do you know how to get this out later in the game? I guess it should be somewhere in the savegame-information.

RE: Check difficulty + veteran units
Did you have more than 1 warrior nun in act one? If so the game only brings 1 veteran leader from each class forward, and it always seems to pick the lowest level one. So if you bought a 2nd nun and even if you never used it in battle, the game would bring the level 1 nun to act 2 as a veteran and discard the level 4 nun.

Always check just before you end an act and kill off any low level leaders of the same class so that the game will bring the highest leader as the veteran.

I'm not sure if there is a way to tell what difficulty your game is after the start other than by the amount of xp needed for level 1 units to level. The harder the difficulty the higher amount of XP needed.

To check you could look at a level 1 archer in the garrison and note how much xp he needs to reach level 2. Then after saving your current game. Start a hard game just to see if the archer XP req matches your game. If its the same, then your current game is on hard mode. If its higher than in your current game, your probably at normal difficulty.

Thanks for the reply.
Amazingly, after finishing the 2nd mission the transfer of the veteran units worked - with both (I had a level 4 warrior nun and a level 5 mage - both were transferred successfully).

Your hint regarding the difficulty was excellent - my archer needs 1002 XP to level up - so the hard difficulty was confirmed to me.

Yea both leaders will transfer as veterans as long as they are different classes, like one mage, one nun. The trouble only happens when you have say 2 mages or 2 nuns, then the game only takes 1 of each type and discards the 2nd mage or nun leader. Its one of the limitations of the game. Wonder if this is still the same in Ressurection?
