Future expansion packs and DLCs
Here is another dreaded "request" thread I'm sure the developers love so much. Wink

For a DLC, I'd like to see one that focuses on parks. A small neighborhood pool, a park with picnic tables and such. A park with a tennis court. Another with a basketball court. A cematery (this could also be a add on for a church). A shopping list of expansions for the palace. A massive park for a golf course. A driving range for the golf course. A campground (probably not a high priority on a tropical island but still a fun idea).

For the next expansion pack, I suggest Tropico 4 take a giant leap backwards into the past. Have the game start around 1850. This means no cars, no garages, no roads. It means a horse stable because riding a horse sure beats walking!

You'll have to bunch everything together to reduce travel time during the early days.

If you play an epic sandbox mission from 1850 to modern times, you'll have to have an occasional famine or war to keep the population limits under control.

At the beginning of the game, you start with an ancient building or two. You plop down a UN camp to take care of health care and food demands early on. Your people will build shacks on their own.

The UN will instant build you a construction building at a location of your choosing. Then you build the palace. After the palace, you can build a farm or ranch because the UN isn't staying forever. And you'll need your teamsters office and a dock.

You will have to have at least one of each of those buildings before you can start on everything else.

A blueprint for everything option would be cool to simulate the research of each building.

A railroad would be cool even though it's not really that practical on a tropical island. Silly tourists love a train ride and it's a good people mover. And resource mover.

And El Presidente certainly wouldn't live for over 100 years so he/she would have to marry and have a child to pass the power to at some point.

That would be some mighty big changes but it's something I would like to see considered, even partially.

Later down the road, maybe a Road themed expansion pack could be released so we could build one way roads and highways.

Surely the developers don't have enough content requests already so I thought I'd offer them some ideas to keep them busy in their downtime. [/sarcasm] Big Grin

You may want to hold off on any suggestions, as it may be a long time before any new DLC's are released.

Per Timo:
"Sorry, we don't have plans to release any more of the $5 DLCs for now. The next big thing will be the Modern Times expansion and anything beyond that is too far down the road to comment on now. "

No, don't hold off the suggestions! Just because there are no immediate plans doesn't mean we want to curb your creativity in any way - I believe this forum is a great source for both the publisher and developers of the game for new ideas, so please, by all means, keep them coming.

Even if we don't find the time to comment on all the great suggestions, trust me we always read and consider all of them! The future of Tropico is bright!

Ok, well I would like to see more energy options including a Geo-thermal energy plant.
I would like to see the deals offered by a bank to be more substaintial. Also alliances should bring in more $$
I would like to have the nuclear program encourage more action on the part of the US/USSR - such as offering to pay me to dismantle it, or provide medical/food aid in exchange for taking it down, threatening me with sanctions/invasion, etc.
I would like to see more inexpensive early game options for making substantial money, ...other than mines.
More varied random events...In every single sandbox game I've played so far (within the first few game years), the Soviet stewardess has asked me to build a salt mine.

Some things I would like (in no particular order but chaotic):

Perhaps, what about vacation homes owned by foreign wealthy tourists who stay part of the year, even become a tax haven

Pirate boat attraction that sails around the island

The Commonwealth of Nations as a superpower in the early game, go through decolonisation, or live life as an overseas territory,

And perhaps the collective Caribbean and some South American nations as minor, but significant superpowers in the later stages - (in addition, I find it a little odd that the representative of the whole of the EU is represented by a Lord of a chamber of merely one nation, I would have thought a German or French MEP would have been more apt, but oh well), maybe some "invasions" in the style of rebel uprising or coups.

I know this is a minor, almost insignificant issue, but perhaps new recordings for non-US tourists across all four classes, maybe have slightly different preferences of entertainment for the various nationalities.

More leader outfits, especially for the lady leaders, I suppose that can be in a DLC

Maybe a country club? Horse trails?

Erm, that's all I can think of for now.
