Amazon.com has the preorder available for PS3/XBox and a release date of June 30, 2012...when will the PC version be released/available for preorder?

30. june is wrong.
the game will be released worldwide (beside german pc version which will be released on may, 4) on pc and console end of august / beginning of september, depending in which territory. as soon as we know the exact release dates we will let you know.

it says Sept 4. 2012....this is bitter sweet for me. i was under the impression that it will be release in the 2nd quarter of this year (April-June), i was anticipating that I'll play this game soon. on the other hand this is sweet because i'll have a week off starting Sept 23 and i can play this game in those dates...yipeeee !!!!

as far as i understand it the release of german PC version is in a month ..
and since there are some months between may and august i assume the german player are sort of beta testers
and hopefully you get a more bug free game
if that is any consolation

nope, the german players do not get a beta version. the pc game is finished in development, console version will take a little bit longer.

I'm sure the game will be properly tested before release. First impressions are important.
I suspect the delay will be to get it translated from German in to whatever languages it will delivered in.

i (hopefully) was not implying that the german release will be buggy or not tested
but XXXXXX players of the german version always find some problems that can be solved for the english (&console) version and i assume these versions need less patches and are probably better balanced (good multiplayer balancing is hard)

*rubs hands with anticipation* I'd sworn off pre-orders of Paradox produced games since that SotS2 debacle...but I'd make an exception for this one. Absolutely loved Port Royale 2 and got some really good time sunk into Patrician 4.

Why it comes out in May in Germany, while in the rest of the world comes out in September?

Because it needs a translation from German to several other languages. And a translation program isn't translating well enough, meaning an official interpertor has to check the language, spelling and grammar.

When that's done, it also has to be checked if the sentences fit in the same area as the German sentences do.
All of this takes time.

I have seen that a German language "Port Royale 3 - Collectors Edition" has been released (on physical media).
When will a similar UK language "Port Royale 3 - Collectors Edition" be available on physical media at a fair price ???

At this moment there are no plans for such an edition. If this will change we will of course post this in the forum.

Can I ask why the rest of the world is not considered worthy for such an "edition" and why such an edition is aimed for the German language audience/customers only ?

Please don't forget that germany is the biggest market for such games, especially because Port Royale is a german brand (like Patrician from the same studio). So it is always the question of "does it make sense to produce such an edition worldwide or for some specific markets, do the retailers will buy those editions in good numbers to justify such an investments, how many units can we sell through etc etc". So there are a lot of reasons. PR3 is not Diablo or any other big worldwide well known brand where you can produce two or three editions and it will sell like hell.

I have been buying games (and a lot of other stuff like movies, TV series and whatever) "made in Germany" for many years so I knew that Germany is considered "home market" for "Port Royale".
But I think that you argument to some extend falls flat as , yes , will the retailers buy enough ? (but you got huge companies like Play.com and Amazon.co.uk, CDON.com and others to sell) but I think that it still is a bit "funny" because while German "home market" may consist of about 120 million Germans (at least that is the number that a guy, I know, who is from Germany says) + other German speaking countries then you can't, with a straight face, argue that the market for the english version (which has to cover more areas than just those areas being British or American - my country to add for example) is like "petite".
Your argument is a bit like saying : "Hey!, why make an english version of anything in the first place? - because we , seen from a business point of view , make better money only selling to the Germans".
Admittedly , I can not even buy the game "Port Royale 3" itself from one of my own countrys online shops that I sometimes buy from. But as far as I can see then that could have to do with the "Kalypso Media" release strategy because even a huge online retailer such as Play.com says about "Port Royale 3: Pirates & Merchants" that the UK version is "Pre-order , Due for release on 07 September 2012".
And this is while "Kalypso media" have already put out the German "Port Royale 3 - Collectors Edition" onto the market . The UK market apparrantly have to wait just for the plain standard version of the game on physical media. So yes I really can understand that Germany is to be considered "Port Royale 3" 's home market...
