I've read the manual, very interesting. It is said in many places that the new buildings "replace" the old ones. Does that mean that you can not use the old and the new buildings at the same time. For example, it replaces the new biofarmen the old farms and solar panels, wind mills. I think not seem to be really good.

Yes, that does seem to be the case.

I'd say that is my one misgiving about this pack, that some "redundant" buildings would be pretty fitting for the modern era.

Why wouldn't you want little restaraunts to slot into nooks and crannies? Who wouldn't miss the sweet sweet sight of wind turbines rising like giants out of the mountaintop?

Oh well. Let's see how it goes in play.

I think we should be allowed to still place the old buildings, once we have aqquired the new ones. As Lisen said, the small resoutrants were really good space-fillers and gave the island more of a life-like feel.

Umm i didn't see any link to that maunal on that page, or modern times.. am i missing something??

that said, timo has said a few times that there will be building upgrades. I kinda took that as you upgrading the building into the new one, vrs not being able to build the old.

Click on "Modern Times Expansion" under the videos. Then, scroll down until you see "Manual" on the sidebar on the right.

Doh,, thanks, totally did not see that before.. : )

things i noticed..

Banks, Does this mean no more off shore banking?

appartments, was polution bumped up on the classic version? (they never seamed like they made much, so it has me wondering about the statement of creating less)

water treatment.. (oohh nice replacement for a dump!)

the rest.. and edicts.. it all sounds wonderfull..

I was kinda iffy on if i was gonna pick this expansion up right away.. But after reading the manual.. I think ill go pre-order it from my local shop..

I think the entry says it now services tropicans and tourists, so I guess it's as through the Offshore Banking element has been integrated into the modern building.

Residential buildings are supposed to create pollution (The Anti-litter Ordinance specifically counters this) so I guess they make a little. Also I think Apartments have a little negative effect on local beauty.

Re: banking, if you look at the dev preview video 2 you see the new national banks or whatever and they don't have offshore listed as a work mode, just Ibanking, lending, urban dev, and slush fund. But the manual says the accept Tropicans (???) and tourists on every work mode, so I guess they can multitask a bit.
