Hi, I own orinall retail version on Troica 4 that I bought recently retail here in the UK. The game works flawless. I have been trying to add exp. pack Modern Times as a DLC direct through the Tropica retail launch screen. Each time I get this error: 'the game needed is not installed.' I have just sent email to Support, to clarify this. In the meantime, can anyone answer this: Is Buying the expansion retail, the only way to expand my orinal store bought BNIB Retail copy of the Tropica 4?

The first thing that comes to mind is the User Account Control feature that is enabled by default in Windows beyond XP. Try right-clicking and running the launcher as an administrator.

Installing games in another folder such as c:\folder instead of the default Program Files folder helps too.

I have the retail T4 and just recently installed the DLC's and Modern Times from GamersGate, but don't ask me if I had to run the launcher as administrator because I seriously do not remember. I blame my age.

Ok, I will try them all ASAP. I normally buy my games digitally through Steam, but was browsing Ebay and bought the retail game itself at literally a third off the price of Steam verion.. Steam has the expansion pack currently up, but you need the original 'Steam special edition' bought from them and loaded in before you can run exp. pack running.

It was a weird setup. I purchased the GG stuff. Then I had to show the key code manually (be very careful that you don't gift the stuff - pay attention to what you are doing or you will). Then you start the Kalypso launcher and enter the GG codes in launcher. A lot to pay attention to, but worth it.

You are right, Is is weird stuff. I am still waiting on Support replying. I'll let you guys know asap

I have had similar problems to....

I have boxed version of both T4 Special Edition and Modern Times; I downloaded Junta and Plantador from Gamers Gate [because at the time of release they were not available on Kalypso launcher] and downloaded Quick Dry Cement direct from Kalypso.

Before installing Modern Times all DLCs worked perfectly.

I installed the boxed version of Modern Times but could only play for 30 minutes before I had to save - all DLCs were still working perfectly....

However when I tried to load the Modern Times save, I got the error message about not having the downloadable content installed, and I found that both DLCs bought from Gamers Gate had disappeared and reinstalling the codes did not fix the problem.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled T4:MT twice but still no DLCs - now even the 'Cement' one bought from Kalypso will not install - the launcher tells me I have some downloadable content available but when I click download I get told "it is not possible to download extra content at the moment - please try later"....

So far Support have just advised me to reinstall which I have done and that has exacerbated the problem
