Ok.. so i bought the modern times, and installed a sperate install of T4, hoping i could either play WITH modern times, Or with out..

Yet for some reason Both installs are now modern times. I only used on of them to update, but now it doesn't mater which install i start, Moderntimes is active in both.. (i even went into my main files and clicked the different exe files from the installs... One that has the modern times files listed, the other that doesn't still uses them when the program starts..


My main issue with this is im working on a challenge that i don't want modern times to be used with it.. Anyone have a clue how i can play with out modern times with out uninstalling it? I thought for sure a seperate install would work, But i guess i was wrong..

Both installs are also using the same profiles for some reason as well. Anyone have any clue what is up?

Profiles are in %APPDATA%\Tropico 4

If it's not a Steam install, DLC is in %APPDATA%\Tropico 4\dlc

So you're stuck with the expansion if it's loading from there.

EDIT: Use a different user account, as their %APPDATA% will be different and won't have the expansion.

The file is in c:/users/*accountname*/AppData/Roaming/Tropico 4/DLC/

If you want to play without Modern Times just remove Expansion.hpk from that dir to for example the Roaming/Tropico 4 folder and just move it back to the DLC folder when you want to play Modern Times again.

Hmm that doesn't make any sence to me.. I guess just chalk it up to another reason why i can't stand the whole games for windows crap..


So the only way to play with out is to remove that file, then replace when i do? I have zero clue why a seperate installation wont work..

Because %APPDATA% is user specific, not install specific. The game saves/loads into the DLC directory under normal conditions.
