Game crashed and now can't change graphics settings
The game (Modern Times) crashed while playing and when it started back up there was a dialog box saying that the graphics options have been reset. When I go to try and change them, I cannot click on anything in the graphics dialog window (not even Close!).
Any help would be appreciated. Here is a screenshot of what is happening:
I have the Steam edition and am running Windows XP on a pretty good graphics card.

RE: Game crashed and now can't change graphics settings
File deleted, and still no change. Cannot click on any of the other option tabs (General, Hotkeys, Visuals, Online) nor can I click on close. Is there some way to force the game start in a higher resolution? The game seems to be permanently stuck in Safe Mode at this point unless I can finally access that Visuals menu.

You can try to delete the file save.lua in the %appdata%\Tropico 4\users\user1 folder (there could also be user2, user3, etc. if you have multiple profiles in-game). This will unfortunately erase your campaign progress (but not your savegames).
Whatever the problematic file is it must be in your %appdata%\Tropico 4 folder, so as a last resort you can delete the whole folder, but this will also erase the savegames.
Also make sure that you are starting the game from within Steam and to via a shortcut or the EXE file itself.
Game has been started from within Steam and the exe; both with the same result.
Deleted the whole %appdata%\Tropico 4 folder. Same result. No change.

Thank you for your help.
I need to apologize as I have completely wasted your time. The problem turned out to be a MOD. Thought I had removed all of them before installing Modern Times, but was mistaken. There was one still hanging around that was named oddly. After deleting it and booting up the game, I was able change the graphics without issue.
So happy to play the game again.
