You need to check that your firewall (Windows or other) is giving "Port Royal" Outgoing access at least. (Typically it will be your Virus checker that will have firewall control).
I looked and I'm Forwarding UDP 61045 and the reply comes back on 62013.

I've tried to forward most or all ports on TCP and UDP, both outgoing and ingoing, but nothing seems to help I'm afraid.

My firewall has given Port Royale outgoing access. So I can't seem to find the problem. :/

How far do you get - after the sign box with your name - does it get any further or do you get an error message? If so post it.

You need to setup your router to forward incoming traffic as well, this worked for me (both directions, for both UDP & TCP, for the entire range)

It looks like your Internet connection (probably Firewall) needs to allow Port Royale 3 at least outgoing access - have a look in the Firewall Program list and Add it.
