Starving Charleston???
Morning everyone...

I had a question on the adventurer part of the story...Specifically, if anyone else is experiencing the nightmare trying to starve the Port of Charleston into submission in order to advance the story along.

Here's my conundrum: After being told to start putting pressure on the Viceroy to spill on what he knows about Elena's dissapearance by "Uncle Admiral", I start buying up all the food in sight, checking 3x day at least on 1x time accelleration, effectively pegging the needle on food prices in Charleston. after a few days of this, the viceroy posts a "quest" asking if I could supply his city with food for a reward, saying that the city's imminent demise is only 3 weeks away. "Fool..." I think to myself, knowing that I'M the one buying up every last scrap of food in the city. By now, Word has gotten out to all the other merchants that Charleston is the city to dump all your food in and rake in absurd profits, and like the tide, ships come rolling in...dumping their Wheat, Corn, Bananas, Meat and Bread into the Dock faster than I can buy it up. As a result...the promised date of Famine never advances past 2 weeks left to go.

I did manage to get a cutscene showing the Viceroy disccussing with another that maybe taking Elena wasn't their brightest idea...but I might've imagined it seeing as how it was 4:30 AM and I'd been at this for over 5 hours Tongue

Any suggestions on how to do this? I'm open for suggestions.

Regards,

Enth

Strange... i was able to just starve the town out after 2 weeks without any trouble. Just buy everything up daily. The other alternative is to attack and plunder every merchant ship trying to enter.

Or... are you missing out on a foodstuff? Food items are Wheat, Corn, Bread, Meat and Fruit, but I bought out Coffee, Rum and Cocoa just to be safe.

Done this part. i had no probs buying everything that came in due to the fact i had ~5million gold in the bank account Tongue

The mission also says you could attack trade vessels as they approach the town, but thats gonna cause trouble.

To put it bluntly though.....
The problem you have is that youve rushed through the story too fast and now your struggling. take a chill pill and play the game a little instead of powering through the storyline Tongue

Sometimes the game can be inconsistent and illogical - you have had one of these. I have had an occasion when a city Administrator wants x amount of metal and in the same town I had a Tavern mission from the "Merchant" selling me 450+ Metal - easy money both ways.

What I did was stay in port. I then used the naval view. Everytime I saw a ship go into port I checked trade and bought up all the food items. I made sure I got all the wheat, corn, fruit, meat, and bread. Then I just fast forwarded time until I saw another ship come in. Rinse and repeat. You are given enough money to do this easily, just make sure you have enough cargo space in your convoy to take on lots of cargo before you start - you can't sail off to unload without losing the advantage.
