Tourisme, placement.
I never really understood how the layout of tourisme should be planned in T4. Could someone please help me on a few questions.

Tourisme dock:
Do they need to be in a beatyful spot or can i just place them right next to my industrial dock?

Hotels/bungalow:
I assume they should be in beatyfull areas, but do they need to be in "walking dictance" frome the tourist dock? Do tourists use garages?

Enternainment. Zoo's and casinos etc:
Should they be in walking distance from the hotels or do tourists travel by car to get to those?

with hope of some clearifacation.

As far as I can tell, tourists don't care about the beauty of the dock/airport area since there's no reported service quality.
(Interestingly, I don't think the Cargo Dock effects beauty at all. This isn't the case for Oil Refineries and Fisherman's Wharves though.)

Yes, hotels and most tourist buildings have their service quality directly effected by the beauty of the area.
(Parks, fountains and things like the Golden Statue can help a lot in this regard. I normally build my golden statue in the major tourist area.)

Tourists can and do drive around. I think they're represented by Yellow Taxis.

Tourists will drive from the tourist dock and drive to go to entertainment and attractions. In Tropico 4, Hotels and the Skyscraper Hotel come with built-in garages but the rest of the tourist accommodation buildings don't.

It helps, but as mentioned, tourists can and do drive around. Also Tropican Citizens will also want to use your Entertainment buildings and some of your tourist attractions.

I and others have posted a bunch of tips on tourism, so just search "tourism" and you will find a ton of info..

It all boils down to attacting certain types of tourists, and eco and wealthy are the top money makers.

Another thing is limit the attractions. As each tourist type typically has it's own tourism likes and dislikes, Everytime you are splitting your tourists into all types, you are loosing lots of money. the worst thing you want is equal amounts of all types. any building that has that type as an only used by... so 3/4 of all your tourists are just going to avoid the building entirely.

setting up a tourism area is pretty key. But remember tourist do like to walk around and look around, so some buildings you can build for your islanders are helpfull. Tourist like to see tropicans living in mansions, and visit those nice cathedrals. And just want to see a nice looking island over all. So try to keep any nice entertainment away from the slums. (that is if your island has slums tenement or garbage=slums)

In Modern times, tourism was fixed a bit and now tourist will use cars to get to attractions, vrs the old days when it was typically just to get to the island, and i think leave. One of the devs mentioned something about how he fixed it a while back.

Wealthy are the easiest cause typically they like the same things your tropicans like, so you are never really building anything that is not going to get used. Though honestly i got a thing for eco's and i like to get them on my island, so i shoot for both. native villages, and some nice cabarets and some fine dining.. they will love you!

You can also try to shoot for spring breakers, but they are a bit more selective in your island set up. and getting tons can be a pain

Slobs.. I rarely am able to get slobs onto my island.. Anyone have any tips??.. Now in T1, i could never get anything but heh..

All three impact on pollution, not beauty ...

RE: Tourisme, placement.
Note that the tourism fix from Modern Times carries into vanilla T4 through the 1.05 patch that was released with MT, so even if you don't own the expansion you should be in better shape for tourism. The Skyscraper and the Hotel are the only tourist buildings to have built-in garages, the Luxury Hotel and 7-Star Resort (replaces Skyscraper) have to rely on garages built nearby. The other tourist accommodations are useless, being too small or attractive to the wrong class.

It is possible to attract only wealthy tourists by building only luxury accommodations and an airport/aerodrome set to First Class Service to bring them in. if you do this, make sure you're building attractions that list them as users. You can further increase the spending limit of your visors ("ultra-wealthy tourists?") by setting your accommodations to <100% occupancy. This allows you to raise the fee charged to tourists; a good rule-of-thumb is to make sure your highest fee is about 80% of the average tourist spending limit, with cheaper options available.

Also remember that for Entertainment buildings (and possibly any attraction shared by Tropicans and Tourists), you're setting the fee for Tropicans. Tourists pay 3x that.
