Does range of sight increase the radius of the ship's patrol?

Yes. a ship is able to patrol the area it is able to see. So if its able to see / uncover ships at a further distance with said skill then your able to patrol further with it.

I think the ship lists are slightly wrong. I translated them from a german list that someone supplied and there is some differences to the figures. I suspect they came from a different game, possibly PR2?

I was thinking about taking notes from all the ships i come across in the game so people can update their lists. But been playing the game rather than collating data :s

i compared 3 or 4 ships with my data and found no error

Yeh same here so far. I decided to check them, but its gonna be tough when only certain ships are on the market (that show all their details) when your of certain rank.

edit: i guess thats something else they need to look at. The smaller ships seem to not be available when your rank grows high.

Not only that but if you want trade fluyts its impossible to get them too and at least these should be considered as important as ships of the line since some people (if not most due to the unbalanced system) are traders.

trade fluyts are available with the last rank
only fluyts are not
if you want more trade fluyts ..just start 1610 and you have 6 shipyards that sell trade fluyts instead of one

Fluyts are around when sloops, brigs, barcs and pinnaces are available at the lower ranks. The problem though is at the start, its easy to get rank up so that frigates, corvettes and galleons start appearing in the shipyard. By this time youve probably settled for just one or two of the ship types to make your money, while capturing better ships from pirates. The small ships are then none existent, and only the larger ships are available to buy.
