Will there be fleet formation. Space empire V has fleet formation such task forces which got better after modding. It would be cool if your fleet can be separated into divisions or task force. Instead of having one large formation, you can several sub formation which will add interesting tactics. For example,you can have 2 sub-formation attacking two sides of a larger enemy formation. It will an interesting concept.

It would be even cooler if fleet formations made a difference. For instance a bubble formation actually protecting transports inside a bubble of warships working.
Most space RTS formations do not matter because people still target whatever they like and the formations are usually too small/tight.

Please look at naval warfare formations for the kind of formations I would like to see.

We have a pretty cool fleet manager in the game. It works like this: Each fleet is made up of groups. You can just drag and drop ships into each group and then put these groups into formations. These formations will be used by the corresponding fleet each time they go into battle. So yes you can protect freighters or important ships using this formation system. thanks for the fast answer. I know its been asked before but how many ships will be formation. Moreover, in galaxy map will you be able to see the fleet as a whole or will it be represent in as a picture. Also in the fleet manager, can i save my fleet formation for future use, such as if i star a new game.

Fleet management sounds really good.

This game is starting to sound like the ultimate space strategy game. The only way it could get better would be to add ground combat, but the only game that ever successfully had both space and ground combat that I know of was star wars empire at war.
