New edict - hire MERCENARY soldiers?
Wouldn't such an edict make perfect sense? Why not make the SWISS bank actually have a use, and be realistic? You got millions of dollars stashed away. A swiss bank account Why in the world can you NOT use this money? If a situation is going bad for you, such as an uprising, rebel attack, or military coup, why in the world can you NOT use your money to get out of the disaster? We all know in real life, money can BUY you out of any situation, especially in politics. So if Tropico wants to become more modern and realistic, it needs an edict like this. Example: Edict: "50 Loyal Mercenary soldiers arrive on the island and act as soldiers". Cost: $500,000. (for example). Annual upkeep: additional XX amount of dollars per Mercenary soldier. Your balance must stay positive or else the Mercenary soldiers will leave. (kinda like how the Nuclear program works, must have a positive balance to keep safe from invasion). The Mercenary soldiers would stay on your island, forever, until they die from old age, disease, or from a fire-fight. But you must have a positive balance at all times, or they leave the island. If you want a real life example, imagine telling the U.N "hey, I got an uprising going on in my country, but I got 10 million dollars in exchange for you to send over some U.N 'peace-keeping troops' to my country". It'd happen in a second!!!

So why NOT for once actually make use of the SWISS BANK ACCOUNT? Allow edicts, assuming you have enough in your Swiss bank account, to get you out of certain "bad situations". I'm sure there are probably a few more things that your swiss bank could buy, I just can't think of anything at the moment.

In T4 modern times, one new edict is "have 100 Chinese immigrants" arrive if you have excellent realtionships with China. Well, if you have EXCELLENT relationship with china, why the heck can you not ask for help during an uprising/coup/rebel attack??? It doesn't make any sense. That is separate issue from the hire "MERCENARY soldiers" edict. But if you think about it.... If china is your "ally" or you allow a country to build a military base on your island, and a rebel attack/uprising/coup occurs, that country sits back and does nothing? Sends no troops to help? Why? Especially if they have a MILITARY BASE on your freaking island, lol! Yet they do nothing. They just sit back and allow their ally, and their military base to be destroyed lol

Actually that wouldn't be a bad idea, but it would have to lower the militarist faction standing.

Yup, that would make sense. Depending on the situation though. If it's a military coup, then yes def it would lower the militarist faction standing.

But let's say it's during a Rebel attack, or uprising, and your soldiers and outnumbered and going to lose. Half of them are hiding in the nearest building scared for their life (like they do in the actual game already, they will flee into the nearest building). If you called in support in a case of a Rebel attack/uprising, and saved your island/saved the lives of the remaining military soldiers, I'd think it'd increase the respect of the faction. At least temporarily. I'm sure they'd probably get "annoyed" at seeing foriegn soldiers patrolling Tropico after the crisis is over. Even though those foriegn soldiers may have saved their butts before, just like in real life, people have short memory and forget, and don't care that it was them who saved them earlier. So perhaps in the long run, it lowers the militarist respect the longer you let them stay around. Perhaps an option to "send the foreign Mercenary troops back home" could be an option too. Then if needed again, you pay the hefty fee, and call them back if another crisis occurs.

I saw it would increase the soldiers respect, considering that not all the soldiers are militarists, the militarists would still think "we could have killed the rebels easily" Or it could be like what you said raises respect for a little while then plummets down for a longer time.
