New Trailer Reveals Mankind’s Fight for Survival

Bracknell, UK – 12th June 2012

Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Novacore Studios today released a new trailer for upcoming 4X space game Legends of Pegasus. In the first of three trailers focusing on the playable races in the game, we take a closer look at the ‘Humans’ and their first steps into deep space travel and how it opened a new chapter of peace and harmony. However, this peace was short lived and the balance of power soon shifted as greed and the thirst for supremacy led to the discovery of new races, threatening humanity’s very existence.

In the 23rd century, mankind made tremendous progress colonizing the vast extents of space. Man built huge spaceships, colonized new planets and even used terraforming to transform uninhabitable worlds. Soon, new races were also discovered. The first contact was friendly and peaceful. But peace can be a masquerade for other more sinister motives.

Legends of Pegasus takes you to an epic journey into space and mixes real-time and turn-based strategy. Players will expand their civilization in the galaxy by colonizing new planets, building factories, laboratories and shipyards, researching new technologies and designing new space crafts to keep on exploring new galaxies. Battles are played real-time and decided not only by your tactical skills, but also by your strategic decisions and the design and equipment of your ships.

Legends of Pegasus offers a massive single player campaign, during which the player will discover three very different races. Multiplayer features Internet or LAN gameplay, against Human or AI opponents. If you like designing your own game yourself, numerous modding options will certainly make you all the happier. The spectacular 3D graphics don’t just bring life to marvellous planets, but also to the stunning spaceships you can freely design thanks to an intuitive building system.

Legends of Pegasus will be released on Windows PC later this summer. For more information please visit the official website at http://www.legendsofpegasus.com or http://www.facebook.com/legendsofpegasus

It was cool, but I could not help but notice the that there was no gameplay in that trailer.

It would be nice if we got some videos of actual gameplay. Screenshots and teasers can only do so much.

Nice. But your computer looks like its lagging a bit in the trailer.
Ships also seem to move like they have no mass or substance. Spinning on a dime like a school of fish flitting about.

Well except some cutscenes, most of the trailer is ingame gameplay material. You see how humans build their colonies, how humans build their ships and you see human ships at battle. What gameplay would you like to see?

Also, the maneuvers you see in the trailer and such are still subject to change. So don't worry. :-)

Seeing very small glimps of gameplay without any real context doesn't really tell us much. What I would love to see is something like a small gameplay preview. Just someone playing the actual game for a short while so that we can get a better idea of that the game looks like and plays at the moment. Teasers and trailers can only do so much.

Well, we had gameplay footage from Gamescom 2011 where we announced the game. It is on Gametrailers if you want to check it out. Of course it is now outdated because it was a very early alpha build. And we had some footage from Games Connection 2012 in San Fransisco also on Gametrailers. That showed some of the race editor and the terraforming.

I think he is interested in seeing how one engages in battle and sets up for the battle.
Then actually playing the battle from start to finish. What we have seen is just a glimpse of ships shooting at each other close range.

A lot of games do what is called "deep dives" by microsoft in their previews. They play the game for 20 minutes or so showing the basic features.

Well sadly many of us are going to worry, because you are 30 days from releasing this game, and fundamental space physics that I have seen in many older space games are clearly not present in your game at this time.

Ships feeling like they have no mass, they spin on a dime, etc... are all signs of lax coding methods and not using a proper physics engine. Dialing in and getting the ships to look and feel weighted, and moving, is very important in any space game.

I really hope this is not the "meat" of the game =( A lot of looped / repeated video showing things like a ship landing at a colony over and over, has nothing to do with the actual game play and especially the space combat.

The very little space combat I did see, shows that there is no physics involved at all, with ships turning at very fast and awkward angles. It didn't look weighted or proper at all.

I know you guys are trying to finish your game, and honestly it really looks like your prepared to launch your game "unfinished" like Sword of the Stars 2 did, and then hope you get enough sales to keep production going to finish your game some time later.

I have real concerns with what I am seeing as there is very little in-game video showcasing how the actual game plays out.
