Quick question: should I place mines on the centre of the coloured overlay showing the resource or place it off to the side of the main coloured mine areas?

I know that farm should be placed off the main green area but wondered if the same was true of mines.

I think just touching it, except for Salt Mines which can be placed anywhere (cause their miners mine the salt mounds integrated in the building itself from what I can see).

I always put them on top of the resource as I assumed that was what you were supposed to do, and it always seems to work fine.

I place mine on top of them and they work perfectly!

I place my mines next to the resource and the miners build over the resource. Borehole mines go over the resource.

Isn't there a text in the game which says that putting a salt mine above the resource will interfere with the minig process?
