Will there be any random events like meteors or space creatures attacking your planets?

The answer is probably yes according to the interview with Novacore Studios from NeoGamr.net

What kinds of gameplay features do you consider to be important in the game?

It is very important to us that no game in Legends of Pegasus feels quite like the last one you played. When you set up a new game, you can make all the little decisions that make 4X games more replayable than most other genres: What kind of universe would you like to play in (spiral, cluster, disc)? How many galaxy arms? Should there be random events? How aggressive should the AI behave? Should the galaxy be poor or rich in minerals?

RE: Planet types
Asteroid belts are solely for mining. You can create mining stations in asteroid belts to mine raw materials.

RE: Planet types
What about comets? that could be pretty cool... though perhaps not as cool if they hit your planet causing a catastrophy.

Would be a nice game option to turn on and off.. Smile

That sounds great, comets could be added as some event like feature maybe? Or payer or AI could use them to attack players worlds. Having some tech to influence comets orbit, aka flight pattern. Creating Armaggedom scenario Big Grin

Ha! You guys are killing me. All great ideas. But again, we now have to concentrate on delivering. After release, we can see where this wild ride takes us.
