Just wasted close to an hour hunting for missions
Trying not to do the whole 'accept the build mission and then tear down the buildings afterwards' but honestly when *all* of the missions offered are 'construct 'X' businesses' in towns that I haven't got the rights to build in...you guys seriously didn't test this at all, did you. I really hope the 1.2 patch fixes this sort of stuff and your quality assurance team learns a valuable lesson about not doing their jobs.

The rep system is by far the worst thought out aspect of this edition of the game. Well, that and not being able to defend your own towns.

PS: Scraping my way to a rep north of 50 with a nation only to have them ally with another which drops it down? Bad design.

RE: Just wasted close to an hour hunting for missions
I'm assuming you're stuck in a position where you only have building priviliges in very few cities, and need higher reputation to get more licenses.

My solution to this problem was to get building priviliges in several cities over a short period of time, as soon as I got my reputation with a nation high enough. Of course, you need enough money to pay for the two licenses and the initial three buildings per city (plus the building materials), but it did work for me quite nicely. That way, you can make a lot of money (and get your reputation much higher) pretty fast by doing building missions on those cities (plus milk runs for the building materials and raw materials), and you get to keep the goods and either sell them or use them as raw materials for your other businesses (either in the same city or in others).

Having that said, I do agree with you that this entire game feels like a very early and shaky beta release, including for the reasons you specified, among others. Seems to me that Kalypso got cheap and greedy, so they planned to have us buy the game and have us beta test it for them after we paid for it, figuring we're already screwed and got nothing to lose, instead of the other way around. I never expect 100% bug-free releases, since I know it never happens, but this game is a record in my book. Not being an american myself, I often tend to complain about american corporations being greedy and cheap. This time, it seems that the germans have a few things to learn from the americans, like how to be professional game developers and not release a game before it's ready.

Nobody believes me that they are flawed, fanbois will say they are fine, but we all think and know differently.

It's not a matter of believing you or not. We're all entitled to our own opinions about this, and you're not the only one who has a problem with those missions, except it seems we disagree about what exactly the problem is. I, for one, don't have a problem with the building materials issue you described on the thread you opened - I think it could be improved, but it should definitely remain an issue. On the other hand, the fact that we get so many building missions in cities we don't have building privileges in (and can't get them, either, due to low reputation), is just damn stupid.

You can keep posting vague and confusing replies, while calling anyone who doesn't agree with you "a fanboy", but you don't make much sense that way. If I hadn't read your other thread, I wouldn't have had a clue what you meant.

whoa there, calm down, not everything in the world is directed at you. This is not the first time that either myself or BumpInTheNight has mentioned "missions". Please have a little look about before you decide that you are the object of a post, does wonders for the blood pressure Smile

Is it fixed yet? No. Then yes, yes it is. Besides at this point with the heavy lack of response from Gaming Minds and the length of time its been since this game's release about the only thing we can do as the suckers who bought it is warn others of its incomplete status, or Gaming Minds could just fix these things.

I did read that announcement and I really hope it addresses this specific issue, the reason I'm saying hope rather then pleased is because it just says 'fixing some missions', not 'stops governers from offering build missions when you have no rights to build in their town'. This is a show-stopper of an issue and while I'm sure you guys are pretty proud of things like integrating xbox controllers into a PC strategy game its all for nothing if a fundamental element of the game remains broken.

Again, I really hope that is specifically addressed. If you could confirm that it is that would very likely make my day in fact. Smile

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Bump and me were the only ones with posts on that thread when your post came online, and since Bump, like you, brought up a problem with the missions, I assumed you were criticizing me for not sharing your view regarding the building materials issue. Thanks for clarifying. Smile

My blood pressure is quite fine, btw, just so you know. Tongue
