But yeah you're right the skyscrapers and space shuttles only come with the Modern Times expansion pack. Nuke plants are available in Tropico 4, but you have the option of not building it, unlike in MT where you can no longer build older buildings once the upgrades are unlocked
I understand your point, but the majority of the Caribbean is still pretty poor (Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and other poor islands). Most of the middle-high income countries are small islands with small populations.
I guess what I liked about the original Tropico was the emphasis on the developing Caribbean like Cuba and DR over the really touristy and capitalized islands. That's really what made Tropico unique for me. It's not that I don't like nuclear plants or skyscrapers, but for that I can play Sim City or Cities XL, which specialize in that type of game. Anyways, that's just my impression from the gameplay I've been looking. Thanks for the reply...

Is the game going to be getting another patch?
Only game breaking bug I encountered was one of the mission critical secret agents on mission 18 never showed up, and Kalypso's tech support is about as helpful as a mosquito with malaria.
It's doubtful we'll ever get to see another official patch.
