Ay Caramba! [Image: 1892_mad_smiley_banging_head_against_a_brick_wall.gif] come on people, they told us when the demo would be out, right? sometime this week, ok? that is perfectly acceptable to those of us who's right and left lobes are larger than a peanut. IF the demo isn't released by close of business their time on friday then gripe, but until then give 'em a break, they haven't misled any of us!

I think the developers are doing a fantastic job and should take all the time they need. I'm looking forward to the demo as much as anyone, but please guys and gals, be patient.

They said it will be out this week, they never said it will be the start or the end of the week, so as Mack the Knife said, don't gripe.

Dude, I did not criticize the developers nor accused them of lying, you are just interpreting my post, I just wish I had the demo now.

Even if they were late (which they are not) and only finish preparing the demo after this week, well ... there is nothing I can do anyway : )

RE: TROPICO 3: Official release dates & Demo version
Tropico - my most favourite game
"I can't wait a moment more
Tell me quando quando quando" Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I have seen many games which have the next-version very bad, so I hope Tropico3 isn't the one
I don't want Tropico 3 too complicate, only need it have original gameplay as Tropico1, plus new buildings and 3d view, that's enough

Well your in luck, this is pretty much what the game is and what we all wanted it to be. Their are a few new great features added like the Avatar option, which is one of my favourite additions.

Question RE: TROPICO 3: Official release dates & Demo version
The demo was out on the 7th (as I read here), today it's September 10th. Where can I download the demo from ?

I thought I'd give it a try, but I can't seem to be able to locate it. Sad Any help, a link someone ?

And let's not forget T3 HAS CARS.
FINALLY, CARS!
I got SO tired of watching my works walk halfway across the map...by the time they got to their assignment they turned around and went home.

RE: TROPICO 3: Official release dates & Demo version
The anticipation I have for this demo is starting to kill me. I feel my blood pressure rising to unhealthy levels, I religiously check the forums hoping to see that it is released, I play hours of the original Tropico just to get the fix.
Kalypso, I pray that my expectations don't exceed the final product's quality and that this wasn't one big waste of time and eventually money. I have faith, I do, but in my past experiences, sequels don't often come out better than the original.
I was sorely disappointed when I heard the release date was pushed back and Steam still teases me with the expectations of a September release even though I know otherwise. But, if it takes a delay in release for a better quality, better polished game, so be it. Take your time. But realize this, MY HEART CAN'T TAKE THIS MUCH LONGER!

Cheers!

Well, that post isn't 100% true.
You can't PLAY the Demo after you dl it. It's just to pre-load. You get the demo..but can't play it until it is officially released.

That sounds pretty pointless to me. What use is it to me if I download a demo but cant play it?
I wouldnt be happy about that if I were a Fileplanet subscriber.

Also, I think, if the demo is done (and it seems to me like it is done, because its already on fileplanet), Kalypso should release it to everybody, not just to paying fileplanet customers.

Again, the demo isn't officially out. Even if you're a FP subscriber you still can't play the demo.
All you can do is pre-load it to play it the moment it is officially released.
That was directed towards tropicotim, btw.

goddamm
a little reseach on "preload demos" shows that Luwinkle is right, so sorry everyone

some further research shows that we should prepare for a larger file (say 700mb or more) and the time between preload and full release usually is 1 day (i checked overlord2 and hawx)

a suggestion for killing time would be preparing some mirrors, ask friends with webspace, make a new thread

I have heard the the pre-load says at some point either during download or installation that it enables on the 12th Sept

This stunt just lost them a sale from me. I was going to buy the PC version. Now I'll rent the 360 version. First they come up with this BS about week of 7th instead of giving us a real date, now we have to pay a subscription for the right to pre-load a demo we can't play until the 12th?

No thanks. -1 sale

What stunt?
You dont like the format of the demo date given and fileplanet having a preload? That is enough for you not to buy the sequel to your "favorite game of all time"? Seriously I think you should quit nerdraging and come back to this game and forum in a week or so. Wink

I agree with Nufan.

There will be other places to DL the demo from when it is officially released.
The fileplanet ordeal just gives subscribers a chance to pre-load it so they don't have to deal with release day traffic.

If something so miniscule puts you off of this game..then you really weren't a big fan of it to begin with. Tongue

A Tropico 3 demo was promised for this week and Kalypso is delivering! The 1.10GB demo will unlock for all users tomorrow, and FilePlanet subscribers can pre-load today. We were fortunate enough to preview the game, and if you are are a Tropico (1) fan, then you probably enjoy Tropico 3.

Quote:To download this early release of the demo you will be required to register an account with FilePlanet. The version on FilePlanet is a pre-load which means you can only download it but cannot play it until September 12th.

FilePlanet's minimum subscription costs $15.95 (just under £10), this will cover you for 3 months of membership.
if this is not a stunt but is, in fact, the way kalypso intends to release the demo to the public then it's utter, unadulterated bullshit! if the promised demo is not released on public accessible servers by friday then this has been a despicable misrepresentation of intent by the the staff of kalypso. assen, timo, you should be ashamed, this is crap, total crap!

Get your panties out of a knot, man.
Fileplanet always does this. I'll say this once more:
It's a preload for FILEPLANET SUBSCRIBERS to DL the demo and be able to play the moment it is released instead of dealing with release-day traffic. The demo will be available to everyone when it is officially released.
Nothing less, nothing more.
Yall are looking way too much into this.

I was angry at first aswell, but now I wonder whats the big deal about this?
Everybody will be able to play the Demo at the same time. The people from Filepanet get what theyre paying for- a faster and earlier download. And I dont think its bullshit - its just a way to get the game to the Fileplanet Users, who might not have seen it otherwise.

look bullwinkle, it's still crap because it shouldn't be up to you (and who the hell are you?)to clarify this. if some sneak preview made it's way to fileplanet then that should have been announced and explained here by kalypso, not you.

oh my oh my, whatever will i do. my reputation is again waning and i so much care about what you wonderful people think....[Image: vomit.gif]

Mack, I'm ashamed of lots of things in Tropico: the bugs we couldn't fix, the features we didn't have the time to implement, the videocards we couldn't support - all things that were under my control to some extend, and some of which I could have done if I had spent even more weekends at work, instead of with my kids.

I'm (or in the broader sense, Haemimont Games) also responsible for the additional 1 or 2 days of delay to the demo, as it turned out a bit harder than expected to reduce the download size, so more people can download it.

However, I'm absolutely 100% NOT ashamed of how the demo is released - this is something completely out of my control. However, I fully trust Kalypso's judgement that this is the best way the demo will reach the widest possible audience. The brief period of exclusivity to FilePlanet will get the game exposure at one of the biggest gaming sites, IGN - and publicity is what the game badly needs.

So while I want each and every one of you to play the full game right now - after all, we're mostly done with it - I try to see the bigger picture.

And no, I personally wouldn't subscribe just for a demo ;-) (But I'm a Xbox Live Gold member mostly for the pleasure of getting demos a bit earlier :-).)
