I was angry at first aswell, but now I wonder whats the big deal about this?
Everybody will be able to play the Demo at the same time. The people from Filepanet get what theyre paying for- a faster and earlier download. And I dont think its bullshit - its just a way to get the game to the Fileplanet Users, who might not have seen it otherwise.

Exactly. It's a win/win. People who have a FP subscription get to play the demo SLIGHTLY earlier than everyone else (since they would have already had it dl'd) and it gets the word out about the game a day before the demo officially releases.

not so if it's only sourced on fileplanet. do you know for a fact it will be released on a free server today/tomorrow? regardless, timo or assen should have been on here prior to someone discovering this to explain it. that's what's bullshit.

And Mack, it wouldn't need clarifying if you would read what was actually posted instead of getting into a massive hissyfit and throwing a temper tantrum about it. Wink

That's all that is needed to be said. Brief period.

The internet is full of self important whiny little drama queens who obviously lack reading comprehension skills.
The real question is how to deal with them, try to ignore them as best you can or explain everything over and over again until they finally shut up.

Your choice guys Wink

Lol, "get out of my face buddy".
You're the one being abrasive over nothing. Wink

You've apparently never dealt with FP pre-loads.
Even if it IS exclusive to FP..who cares? Might have to wait a few minutes in a line..but they have some of the fastest DL speeds out there. I routinely get over 1mb/sec.

In all fairness, FilePlanet do this a lot, no one is getting it early they are just getting the download early.

Shamrock Wrote:This stunt just lost them a sale from me. I was going to buy the PC version. Now I'll rent the 360 version. First they come up with this BS about week of 7th instead of giving us a real date, now we have to pay a subscription for the right to pre-load a demo we can't play until the 12th?

No thanks. -1 sale

1 - They said this week not on the 7th, they are liable to delays and they are probably testing the demo.

2 - On the 12th it will be probably available to everybody, Fileplanet may get only a preload

3 - What's wrong with people on the Internet, why do you make such a fool of yourself. Not only you are borderline trolling, but why everybody on the Internet has to post their opinion in such a way, like you said you are just a single potential sale.

RE: TROPICO 3: Official release dates & Demo version
I don't see why people are making a fuss about the pre-loading thing on fileplanet. It's only the demo. The only advantage there for subscribers is that you can download it now, and immediately play it when it is released.
The other people have to wait an hour (depending on your internetspeed) extra to play it.

I think this is a clever way for Kalypso to gain more interest in Tropico 3. Preloading a game give the demo a bit of special 'status' that will make gamers more curious about it.
And they won't only use fileplanet for uploading the demo, there are plenty other sites out on the www.

The two main pc game retailers in my town GAME and Gamestaion haven't seemed to have heard of this game yet, and its supposed to be due out in October? Also will the demo be released on disk shortly?

Edit: I just found GAME has it as a download.

Who said it's going to be released tomorrow?! I haven't heard an "official" person mention that day as when they're going to release it. That is speculation from the members of this forum and not that of the actual Kalypso staff.

So in short, don't get your hopes up.

My guess? Well, people are saying that the file they downloaded from fileplanet says that it will unlock Saturday, 09/12/09.

Umm?

Maybe time zone differencies?

I just pre-load demo and it says Est. date available: Fri, Sep 11, 2009

Good to hear conflicting reports. Hey I am with everyone on the "I want to play demo NOW" tantrum, but I'm a pessimistic bastard when it comes to "planned" release days.

Truth be told I never knew you could pre-load games at all...

I never really was all that into joining game forums and the like. I usually use my PC for, well, games. And the odd stint of research and report typing.

I normally don't join forums either, but when i see a great game coming a long, I do, just so i can keep up to date and if its worth it, buy it when it releases. Either way i just want the demo Smile that will be the deciding factor.

I'm also a little supprised that tropico 3 is relatively cheap to the x-box version. I thought the game would sell for 50 dollars at least (not complaining Wink
