Ocean/Lake Issue
I can't really see the coastal waters - I see THROUGH them. It is nice to look at the coral underwater, but it just doesn't look realistic. Is this a graphics issue, something I can adjust... or is this how ocean/lakes were designed to look?

Basically, it just looks like the ground turns dark blue once I leave the beach... It doesn't look like water. It also makes the horizon/backdrop look strange when I'm at street view looking out to sea.

Does anyone else out there have this same issue? Am I making sense??? Please help.

Actually, Tropico reflect the reality of tropical waters. Life does not thrive when the water is too warm, so all the little lifeforms that muck up water are absent. Tropical water is so clear that in shallow parts you can see the bottom.

RE: Ocean/Lake Issue
I fail to see any reefs or reef life in the waters around my islands. I am using an Nvidia 8800 with the latest video drivers for it In fact I suggested in another thread to give us ships to sink to create artificial reefs since they seem to be absent from the game, however if there really are reefs and reef life that can be seen in the game, somebody please post a screenshot, I'd love to see it.

I wonder if post processing removes this stuff as they advised to turn post processing down or off to get rid of the horrible bloom effect on the tops of buildings.

Got the same problem, I seem to remember it being mentioned as being addressed, by someone from Haemimont.

RE: Ocean/Lake Issue
We have several reports of water disappearing on ATI cards, which are usually fixed by deploying the latest drivers; unfortunately, the latest drivers don't support ATI's 1900-series cards, so we're looking for a workaround for them. Unfortunately we still can't find such a card, neither new, nor second-hand.

RE: Ocean/Lake Issue
Hmmm, if we were just a bit closer I could send you my old ATi X1950 GT video card to try to replicate the work around for this, since I've long ago moved over to the Nvidia 8800 and ready to upgrade again to another newer Nvida product.

Ah, my bad, for some reason I thought mine had been updated. However, I seem to have lost the ability to tilt the view so that it is near horizontal with the ground, i.e. I can no longer see the sky (I swear I could tilt the view to see the mushroom cloud from nuclear testing before, I might be crazy though) - it's not in the classic view mode either.

RE: Ocean/Lake Issue
My ATI HD3650 video card has very nasty blue square blothes over the water rendering (and smoke particles such as demolishing a building). The particle effects look like squares floating around.
