I'm curious if anybody knows, do families split up?

Let me explain, the tenements hold 4 people per apartment, the houses and apartment building each hold 2 peeps per unit.

So what happens if you evict a household in the tenement that has 4 people in it? Will they all move into a shack, or will the two primarys move into an available residence that only accepts 2 people like a house or apartment building?

I'm guessing here that there must be a certain % of the population in Tropico that can only move into the tenements because there is 4 people to the family unit, or can they split up and take up two units in an apartment building?

Never mind, it was my mistake. Apparently what I was taking for a family of 4 is actually two families of two. It just looked like 4 because there were 2 middle aged people and two old age people right next to them so I mistook it to be the husband and wife, and one of their parents too.

I didn't know there was a limit to family size in a unit. I assumed each unit could hold a husband, wife and an unlimited number of children. Is this incorrect?

No i think its correct. Children don't take up any apartment space. I once saw a couple who had six kids, all living together.

Correct, it's just that the parents don't live with the siblings. I assume that since children don't take up space in the housing, once they become of age they immediately move out to a shack or other living quarters if they can somehow afford it.

Which then makes sence that parents don't live with siblings after they are old enough to join the work force and or get on the government dole.

In the real world, the whole family lives in the same house...brothers...sisters...cousins...nephews...nieces...sisters-in-law...grandparents. There is no limit on how many can fit under one roof.

Do families notice a family members death? in Tropico when someone died all his immediate family would say 'oh my father/son etc just died' or a similar thing in the thoughts page when you clicked on them but now it seems they just remarry and the childern get new parents and just completely forget that the deceased ever existed.

True, and the graveyard behind the church is much too small and never gets larger as people die.
