Buildings you'd like to see added

Like an observatory, or maybe a space program building Big Grin

RE: Buildings you'd like to see added
I'd like to be able to smuggle 'contraband' along with exports. at a risk of losing the load, of course.
and yes, by contraband I mean drugs, guns etc..etc..would be a nice risky way to work on that swiss bank account.

not really a building, but I'm sure it can be introduced as one via a business 'front'.

/edit
after thinking about it, this sort of thing would probably be better implemented as an edict.

Who run Bartertown?

Actually, that's already in the game.
By the way, It's an underground secret missile silo(look at the edicts tab).

More variations for country house, normal house and absolute must - elite mansion(it looks so bad). And make a 2 family space for Shanty! Its just stupid to have such a big structure for 1 family while other taking less space support 2 families with better quality.

RE: Buildings you'd like to see added
The mansion is kind of odd with that dome, isn't it? Perhaps more suited for, I don't know where, Russia? Middle East? Just seems strange and out of place like some of the other design choices.

I'd like to see an upgrade for the marketplace, perhaps when upgraded, turn it into an indoor marketplace taking up the same, maybe a little bit larger of an area.

The Palace: I'd like to see it start out as a very modest palace, and then grow and upgrade as the economy of the island grows. Not start out as this massive palace to begin with. I understand they are trying to keep with Tropico 1, but they could have added onto this so that the palace was an evolving building (well, actually I don't know if it's programatically a problem to do such a thing so when I say they could have, it means, it would be nice if they could have).

Definetly not Russian or Eastern Europe Smile I don't like architecture they chose for bank too. Would like at least 1 cheap hotel variation were they could be place in row, similar to T1. That gas station on it just spoils the possibility of placing them close by to each other.

Oh and not a building, but something you build anyway....

1. More trees, but without the base of stone, so they are just planted into the ground. I'd like to beautify areas around buildings but not have it so formal.
2. Flower gardens, both natural (without stone borders) and more formal with stone borders. All kinds, poppies, roses, tulips etc. The places around homes really need to have more decorative items.
3. Goes with 1 above, but the palm trees I'd like to also see have round stone bases instead of the square ones. Maybe even make them a bit larger and plant flowers around the bottom of the palm tree, and then a round stone ring around the base. We've got these going down the main street where I live right now, palm trees line the main avenue, and they all have decorative flowers at their bases making them seem less plain.

And generally just a whole lot more decorative items.

I'd to see edicts like "Buy a Tank to your ArmyBases, $xxx per Base", or special foreigns building like Mall payng $10.000 A.A. if you have a good level of development, Airfield base, Naval Bases, better quality of houses and appartaments near of 100, commercials buildings, metallurgy since you have iron and balxite, car factory since you have oil products and metallurgy, nuclear powerplant like 4 times more MW than a normal.

Bus Station :- For Public Transport or travel or other bus station, visits bus stops in radius or something.

Shops :- Gives small boost to a few diffrent things (like rest etc) when visted to collect food, maybe upto 3 diffrent things selected at a time. Cost a very small amount.

Small Garage :- Half size, Half capacity small 2 pump old 1950's petrol station.

Luxcery Food Shop:- Charges for food, but imporves happiness.

Private Club:- Good income but basically allows organized crime on your Island.

Mercanary Camp:- You can hire or if you dont rebels or superpower might. Good income unless you hire them then no income.

Things id like to see that i think keeps the feeling of the game

Oooo and more selected of style.

I agree with you on the architecture of the mansion and the Palace - really unusual and out of place. The original Palace, I read somewhere, was modelled on the architecture of the Iolani Palace in Honolulu (they do have similar features) . . . . this one, I don't know.

A "growable" Palace would be great, but one that looked like appropriate colonial Spanish or Dutch architecture.

Since they introduced traffic, something fun would be a narrow guage RR for getting sugar cane from the fields to the docks, like they run in Barbados and Hawaii (I'm sure CK will say I am trying to combine RRT with T3 now LOL). How about an outdoor horse-racing stadium? Horse racing is huge in the caribbean. Or, they could just re-introduce some of the things they left out - mini golf, tennis club, marina - how about a yacht club?

How about a plane wreck that you could hide in the mountains and locals (or El Prez) could loot it for cash/weapons?

I had no idea that T2 had such a feature. Cool, maybe one day I might crack T2 again and see how they worked that out, give it a try. I only recently started to really try to play T1 even though I've owned one copy or another since it's initial release.

A railroad to move the sugar down to the dock would be awesome, however I think timing of the train would be a nightmare for them, how do you take something that has the possibilities of going 55+ mph on such small maps and make it not take 2 seconds to zip across the map. Then if you slow it down to make it play better for the game, then you've got cars moving around faster than the train, or people running faster than the train. Because if you think about it, let's take a teamster and run him all the way from a plantation down to the dock without a vehicle. While I don't have the patience to sit through a game that would do that, the teamster still runs along at a good clip, so now you put in a train who obviously has to go substantially faster than the teamster can run and you've got a train that pulls out of the station at the plantation and in 2 blinks of your eye it's at the docks unloading.

Anyway, Im not a game designer so for all I know there is some game developer cheat sheet that tells them what to do in this sort of situation that works best, so I suppose if the above is not a factor then trains would be awesome. Especially more so if they added a rideable train ride as an attraction for the tourists. I figure if they went to the trouble of putting in a train to do the sugar delivery, then it would be nice at the same time to use a train for a tourist attraction to take them on an island adventure where Presidente can then set little diaramas around the train tracks around the island like a Jurassic park them for one, and maybe a ghost town etc.

I'd like to see an entertainment building for Children. It fills up their "entertainment" bar in their needs rapidly when they visit. Only children can patron it.

It can be an amusement park (also a tourist attraction), a recreational park, or a Chuck E. Cheese (or something similar to that). Employees of these facilities will not require an education, but they will need to be either a senior citizen, or creepy guy with a mustache (like the lumberjack).

Indeed, I would be satisfied with an unpack tool for the files. I think the community is capable enough to figure out the rest, unless the developers put in some weird scripts for the models, textures or anything else.

RE: Buildings you'd like to see added
Yo ho!

First post here, been playing the Tropico 3 demo and am fairly addicted to it, happily. It's not a perfect game, however, but a very fun one.

Buildings I'd quite like to see:

Good Presidente buildings:

- El Presidente Vista Social Club

El Presidente declares that music is the juice that powers a happy worker, and throws open the doors to a glorious new cafe-studio where artists can practice their delightful Latin jazz and salsa.

Effect: Increases general happiness. Increase in US respect by 5%. Increases Intellectual respect. Decreases Religious respect. Increase in Tourism. $??? upkeep owing to Govt. subsidy.

- Presidente Peppered Jerky Stall

Presidente is most happy to sponsor this most tasty of treats, the world famous Presidente Peppered Jerky Stall! Although Presidente did not cook up this delcious, moustache-watering recipe, be assured that his salty down to earth nature, his fruity party-time charisma and his fiery dedication to Tropican's rights inspired the subtle blends of this jerked something-meat.

Effect: Increases tourism. Annual 10% chance of litigation by hospitilised tourist victims of substandard Presidente Peppered Jerky. Export value $???. McBonalds funds rebels in attempt to get hands on secret Jerky recipe, add two rebels per year.

Ministry for Morale

Roll up! Roll up! The Ministry for Morale has come to town! Far from the long suffering accountants from the finance department forced to wear sombreros and dance a pokey jig, these dedicated and trained happy-fun-time experts are here to turn a Tropico frown, upside down. Failing that the police will turn their car upside down.

Effect: (Graphics show wandering pan-pipers, jugglers, slightly frightening clowns wandering streets.) Chance of protests being defused by Morale Minister. Low job satisfaction for workers.

Lighthouse

El Presidente lights the way once again - this time in a literal manner! Yes, yes, we remember how he lighted the way to that banging BBQ party he promised, and how we all got lost in the jungle, and poor old Manuel was eaten - this is different. This time El Presidente lights the great lamp that will see international shipping safe across the local reefs and into harbour.

Export prices go up 10%. Tourism goes up. Crime goes up. (Smugglers find island easier to access now.)

Good Edicts:

El Presidente awoke this morning and was blinded by the heavenly light, and it is not through having set his curtains on fire with a cigar last night! Mass Baptism for all.

Down to the river to pray! Tropicans embrace the Lord under warm encouragement from El Presidente. Crime lowered slightly due to washing of sins. Religious respect increase. Intellectual respect decrease. 1-5 Tropicans will die from Crocodile attacks.

Alvin Whickerbasket

El Presidente invites roving BBC travalogue charmer Alvin Whickerbasket to do a show on our glorious island. See Mr Whickerbasket encounter the mysterious Choral Chickens, lose to El Presidente at Backgammon and be respectfully steered by military types from 'sensitive areas'.

Effect: Increase in tourism. Increase in US relations. - $??? (Alvin Whickerbasket expense form comes in several ring-binders.)

Evil Buildings:

Brotherhood/Sisterhood of El Presidente Headquarters.

El Presidente is most disappointed in his/her limp-wristed militia! They couldn't throw an egg, let alone a grenade accurately, even if the rebels obligingly attacked in a slow moving funky party-conga formation! To rectify this crushing disappointment, El Presidente has gathered a sinister fanatical cult of perfect specimens to prevent coups, disappear dissonant elements and crush any sign of rebellion. For this he/she has tapped the latent cruelty and aggression of the national men's/women's hockey team.

Graphical effect: Brotherhood for male avatar, Sisterhood for female dressed in Berets, gym gear and armed with hockey sticks. General pushing around of terrified populace, bullying graphics, occassional bundling into Black Maria. Subjects enemy to pistol fire or hockey stick thrashing.

Effect: Brotherhood/Sisterhood beat up random Tropicans, resulting in ill health. Also steal money from exports headed to dock. Will fight fiercely against Rebels, but will shoot fleeing loyalist army. Will haul away protestors in Black Maria. Increase in Nationalist respect, decrease in everyone elses. Humanitarian effort becomes faded out. Tourism falls. Increase in worker production. (Workers become slave labour, practically.) Tropico banned from World Hockey Cup.

Re-education Centre

El Presidente is yet merciful and recognises that poor, soul-blighted fools can yet earn redemption. Far from being a hard labour camp, this centre for intensive study in the innovative art of rocks and rock-tapping maps a road to spiritual renewel and a new found love for El Presidente.

Effect: Quarry camp that reduces construction costs by 25%. Reduces intellectual faction membership and respect. Increases nationalist respect. Decreases tourism. Decreases superpower respect. Decreases crime.

Evil Eddict

Cuckology

The Cluckologists - a bonkers group run by Colonel Tom Cluckard - will award $20,000 to build a church on the island.

Graphical effect: Cluckologists wander street, bothering people. Cluckologist stalls with CluckCluckMetres.

Effect: 30% Decrease in Religious respect. (Can't stand competition.) 5% increase in Intellectual and Environmental respect. (Cluckologists hoodwink with 'psychology' mumbo-jumbo.) Increase in tourism. (Cluckologists from around the world come to attend.) 1% chance for every member of population to become Cluckologist, leaving job or military post to dedicate themselves full time to the old Cluckology. 1% chance of giant Chicken Egg shaped flying saucer bearing race of super-intelligent chickens to land, causing Colonel Tom Cluckard to flee in terror in a master display of irony as his made up money-spinning guff inadvertantly turns out to be true, ending game with giant chicken statue and a new Cyber-Chicken overlord ruling the 'roost'.

RE: Buildings you'd like to see added
personally i'd love to see some small shops and stores, help to develop the downtown areas i've been wanting to.

Be nice to see some different versions of apartments and other houses. Would love if you could have an apartment building where you could put like a restaurant or shop on the first floor.

Bus stops would be nice as well, maybe eventually the ability to make a taxi hub? be like a garage just one or two levels, and used mostly by tourist. Hopefully have a charge as well.

RE: Buildings you'd like to see added
I think that if an expansion pack with more buildings would be made or some downloadable content we would gladly buy it. However if so we should take this game a bit more seriously about which buildings we would like to see added. For example asking for extra military like buildings is a bit out of the scope for this game. An armoured car could be an option, however a tank, battleship or airforce is really too much to ask. If however the military aspect would be improved I would like to have more treats than just rebels, like foreign CIA/KGB organized commando raids, with for example 6-10 commandos fighting your armed forces just like the rebels do now (however these commandos are much more of a challenge of course). You could see this as a CIA/KGB attempt to "secretly" take over the island without having to go for a full invasion.

About additional buildings I would like to propose the following:
- Ministry of Trade, this building could increase the export value for tropican goods
- Ministry of Tourism, to increase the islands tourism rating and possibly even average spending limit.
- Ministry of Internal Affairs, this building (you should only be able to build one) could for example boost one of the happyness ratings depending on your setting, like food, religion, housing, healthcare etc.
- Mining processing buildings, indeed the lack of ways to process mining for bauxite and at least iron should be adressed
- Palace expansion, I really like the idea to upgrade your Palace and start with a basic one, this shouldn't be too hard as industries can already be upgraded (you can also see the upgrade on the building). I also hated the idea that your palace doesn't have a personal garage for the president's car. I also think that the palace guards should be different from the normal soldiers and be dressed up in a more ceremonial way, they should still be able to fight though.
- Shopping center or street, this could be nice to simulate that tropicans need more than just the basics of life, they can buy various things here, like decorations for their homes. This building could enhance their housing for some time after having been shopping at the mall (can also be represented by a "street with shops" and requires electricity).
- Yacht harbor, an attraction for tourists that like to explore the waters around tropico.
- Bus station, really a nice and implementable suggestion IMO. This could be used as a more efficient way to transport the tropicans from work to home instead of everyone taking a car from the garage. With a large city the streets can become really crowed with cars and traffic jams occur. A bus could reduce this problem.

General improvement for tropico in gameplay (and realism):
- Let factories have a boss or factory manager, they could use the banker for this (or even better make a new character type). A factory without a college educated factory manager should have a production penalty.
- Use an edict to sell a selected tropican building to a private party provided that your relation with the capitalists and the USA is good, alternatively the sandbox game could trigger random events which ask El Presidente permission to build a free factory on the island. You will not gain any of the exports however you do gain an annual fee and the workers' salery does not need to be paid by El Presidente.

Even more advanced requests:
- Have an option to confiscate all money that tourist deposited at the offshore bank. There should be a parameter that checks the total amount of tourist money inside the bank, also it should be visited more often by wealthy tourists. That way offshore banking could make tropico a banking paradise, for wealthy foreigners to evade taxes in their own country. For course choosing this edict will ruin Tropico's offshore banking reputation and thus tourist rating and even foreign relations (though even having one offshore bank should in this case already have a small negative effect on at least US relations).
