The special steam edition says it comes with 2 extra maps and 2 extra costumes. Does anyone know which they are?
Or if you have a non-steam version, can you list your sandbox maps and costumes?

Edit: Read, just changed the title to be more appropriate now that we know more.

Edit2: It was patched and fixed today Big Grin

RE: special steam edition
I don't know about the costumes because I like to use the real life guys. But I think the sandbox maps are just the 15 campaign maps without the campaign objectives and stuff so you can just play them sandbox style.

hmm, there are only 15 sandbox maps on my copy, and I didn't see any extra costumes over what was in the demo. something is not right here.

Maybe I was not too clear. I have the cd from the store and not the Steam version. There are 15 (I believe) campaign missions, and it looks like the sandbox islands are all the same as the campaign islands - plus the random generated option.

If the poster is looking for which islands are "extra" he can compare to the campaign islands to find the extra ones.

Yeah, I have the Steam Speacil Edition and I don't seem to have any new costumes for sure, I am unsure about the maps.

Well, at least I got 10% off.

Yes and when I look at my sandbox islands I have 15 islands plus random. So if you also have 15 islands plus random then I have no "extra" ones at the moment. If you goto your sandbox mode how many islands do you see?

I am not at home to check now but I looked last night and I believe there were 15 and I checked the names and they matched the names of the campaign islands I have unlocked so far. But I haven't unlocked them all yet so I'm not 100% sure.

Maybe you have to download something extra from Steam? Sorry I wasn't more help.

Not sure, I just put in a support request to both steam and kalypso asking.

Yea this would be nice if it got straightened out seeing as I also have the Steam version. I'm not sure what the extras are supposed to exactly, but I also haven't checked (much more into just playing right now).

well steam support gave a non-answer of "Thank you for contacting Steam Support. Technical support for this title is handled by a third party support department"

RE: special steam edition
Steam promises the following, and I quote...

"The Steam Special Edition of Tropico 3 contains two additional maps for the sandbox mode and two additional costumes for the el presidente avatar editor."

The avatar editor would be much more complicated to compare and so I have included a list of the maps availible to me, in my steam edition, from the sandbox list for comparison.

1. El Muerto

2. Los Guerreros

3. Baja Formosa

4. Carmencita

5. Belleza Celeste

6. El Volar Fideos

7. Mantaraya

8. Isla De La Aro

9. Pliego

10. San Eustache

11. Puerto Escalante

12. Isla Rosalita

13. Santa Helena

14. El Acantilado

15. Santa Pata

If you have a copy of Tropico 3 that is not from steam, please compare my list to yours. The result will either confirm or deny steams claim.

I have the Direct2Drive version of Tropico 3. I have the same exact list of Sandbox Islands -- all 15 of them. It seems like Steam did not get the additional two islands promised, which leads me to believe that hopefully, all users will get these optional two islands.

RE: special steam edition
I bought my game from gamesplanet

I have 15 islands

and 10 costumes for the male el-presidente
and 3 costumes for the female one.

I wonder why the female got that little, they should add more sexy dresses, short skirts, shorts..etc and hopefully more clothes to the male one and character customization tools

This signature has performed illegal operation and will be shut down. No charges has been filed yet. The attorney did not respond for comments, apparently he crashed while counting his potential earnings.

I have 10 male and 3 female costumes as well ("special" steam version).

It would seem as though steam dogged us on this one.

I'm betting theres a thread about this in there forum, if not I'm going to create one. Hopefully someone over there from steam has an explanation for us.

I think you should also open a support ticket with Steam. and also Kalypso, one or the other maybe responsible

From my recollection, Kalypso was planning a "Collector's Edition" of Tropico 3 -- Amazon.com was selling it -- which included extra islands and costumes and some added features, but it was cancelled. Perhaps Steam just never updated their product description?

There is no "just never updated their product description".

I do not blame Kalypso/Haemimont for it. I definitely think you should take it up with Steam and submit a support request. They are very accommodating for refunds (if you already purchased) or credits (if you already downloaded, and want the difference in cost to a non-steam version).

I've been emailing both. I've gotten no response at all from Kalypso. (so much for the 24x7 support by email they say on website.) I've gotten no useful responses from Steam, they want me to contact Kalypso. I had not found an email for Haemimont till today when I re-emailed Kalypso today I copied Haemimont.

RE: Special steam edition - contains no extras - lies
Hopefully, this will get resolved for you. If a refund is involved, I believe the difference between the "Steam Special Edition" ($39.99) and the other online editions, such as the Direct2Drive version ($35.95) should be refunded to you as a credit. Alternatively, it'd be nice if they make the added costumes available to everyone in the form of a value-added purchase.

Generally speaking, I think that Steam really screwed the pooch on this one. Direct2Drive was very prompt, and other outfits have had global releases several days ago (for those of you in New Zealand with a long weekend to play this masterpiece).

RE: Special steam edition - contains no extras - lies
I requested a refund on the 20th from steam since at the time they were not going to release it until the 25th and went to the local gamestop and bought the only copy they had in stock. Steam replied within 8 hours telling me that the game had now been released and asked if I still wanted a refund and that because I contacted them before the actual release of the game they would oblidge me by issuing a refund. I told them that I did still want the refund and they say they have issued it, although I've not yet seen it hit my bank account so....

I find it very strange that the extra maps were not included with the game downloaded from steam, I would think that it would have been part of the main package provided to them by Haemimont and Kalypso. The whole selling point of buying it from steam instead of any of the other digital retailers was to get the extra maps and costumes since the price was all the same across the board (other than direct2drive at the time of presale was showing it at $49.95 and then came down to $35.99 to be in line with the rest) at $35.99 to order it pre-release which has now gone back up to the normal price of $39.99

Being as it's now the weekend, I'd give Kalypso until Monday to respond where those extra two maps and costumes are before getting out the pitchforks and torches as it does seem quite likely to me that it would have to be Haemimont and or Kalypso that would have to supply Steam with those extra two maps and costumes. If anything, Kalypso did the right thing when people got up in arms about Impulse having the exclusive deal (according to a Stardock employee) of releasing it on the regular retail release date and then next thing we know, Steam started to offer it on that date too. Pressure or coincidence? Doesn't matter, but wonder if this was/is the problem with not getting the other two maps and costumes? Maybe they gave Steam the non steam version without the added maps and costumes.

I have no doubt in my mind that this is an oversight somewhere and not an intentional fraudulent claim on the part of Steam. It makes no sence for them to out and out lie that they will be selling a special version if they really have no plans to. Im sure one way or another an answer will be reached, whether it is to say that steam should have removed the special edition branding from the game they sell, or to allow people to redownload the game or an update to add in those two maps and costumes.

It might help if they actually spoke with their community. I think that's what this whole issue boils down to, lack of support.

By the way we're STILL waiting for the International version which STEAM has now decided to push back to November the 7th with no excuse or apology. *Sigh*... D2D next time for sure... I mean seriously kalypso, I could get it from at least three websites I know, right this second, why isn't STEAM allowed to distribute it as well?

To be fair, this is the weekend so I doubt many Kalypso/Haemimont developers are working until next week. That said, from everyone that I've talked to about this issue, it really does seem like it is a Steam issue. Steam has some strange internal issues that govern how they release games to different markets; other digital providers, like Direct2Drive, tend to abide by the U.S. market rules.

I read a post somewhere around here after all the real moaning that we (myself included) did and when Steam started selling it on the 20th (or the 21st, whatever day retail release was), and I read a post here that said that Impulse was now selling world wide.

Of course anybody that is interested should contact Impulse if they want to go that route, as the person that wrote that post might have simply been from the U.S. and gotten the information totally half ass backwards (or not).

Its not for sale world wide on impulse, I tried to place an order but my location was not accepted (Denmark). I can import pretty much everything else, but I cant import PC games ....

Were you able to get your game some other way? For example, can you order/download through Direct2Drive, as I did?
